The Prado diesel has always shared the same engine as the Fortuner. There was even a time that the Prado was using the older 131 hp 1KZ engine while the Fort had the updated 160 hp 1KD engine. The Prado was updated only in 2006 to carry the same 1KD as the Fortuner, which the Prado still used until 2017. Only with the facelifted Prado did they update to the newer 1GD engine.

paper specs lang yan, a manufacturer can indicate a higher power/torque ratings to make it appealing to consumers, for marketing purposes. for torque, gear ratios will give you indication kung anong lakas ng hatak niyan. as an example, my montero gtv base sa specs nasa 178hp. sa actual dyno run nasa 156whp lang. you may say its wheel hp yung sa dyno but at least the manufacturer should have indicated o put a note na yung value nila is engine hp o bhp. you ask a casa technician and they don't even have a clue. the upgraded pajero gtv now says nasa 198hp, pero kapag sa dyno yan, expect the value to be 10-20% less.
