Yes they can. The PPV vs CUV comparisons have been going on for so long and the addition of a diesel 7-seater CRV makes it even more interesting.

Both have diesel engines. Both have 7 seats. Both have raised ride heights.

Where do they differ? PPVs have more rugged chassis more suitable for unpaved roads, CUVs have car-based chassis that are more comfortable. While PPVs are bigger in terms of exterior dimensions, when you compare a CRV and Montero specifically, the CRV comes out more spacious actually.

The choice is really up to the buyer if they want a rugged, more durable PPV or a softer, more comfortable CUV. The market seems to prefer ther former.

i both own both 7 seater diesel crossover and diesel PPV, di ko na din makita talaga difference. siguro mas mataas lang, in terms of ruggedness, hindi na din ma-feel at times. so for me, it's not that big to differetiate the two classes na talaga.

between the two, Montero why? matagal na expertise ng Mitsu ang diesel dito sa tin. Honda, mangangapa pa yan yan technical team, though they'll get there, since it's also a Jap company. kayo kung gusto nyo maging part ng first batch ng experiment ng Honda dito sa Pnas at oks lang, eh di by all means
