Hello! We are planning to sell our car(hyundai santa fe 2008) and opt to get a brand new one, can anyone give their thoughts on this? We want comfort, fuel efficiency, and technology. I know that in terms of price, the last two have a huge gap on the last 2, but my father is also considering both of this. Thanks in advance!

You're actually comparing only 2 platforms. The Sorento/Santa Fe share the same chassis and engine while the Trailblazer/MU-X share a similar chassis but differ only in engines (Chevy and Isuzu opted to use different ones). The Sorento/Santa Fe has a unibody structure (body with suspension built on it) while the Trailblazer/MU-X has a ladder-frame structure (frame with body built on top, just like the Fortuner/Montero Sport/Everest). The unibody structure offers a better ride and mostly similar to big sedans. The ladder-frame structure offers better ruggedness in off-road conditions like any pick-up-based SUV. All of these come with CRDi engines so expect diesel efficiency. The Trailblazer's 2.8L engine offers the most output (200hp) but the Korean twin's 2.2L R-eVGT engine offers newer technology and is quite potent (197hp) for its size. The Koreans are priced higher though, more than 2M for their TOTL models.

Since you're considering the Trailblazer/MU-X, you might as well check out the Montero Sport, or the new Everest, or wait a bit for the new Fortuner. If you opt for petrol-powered midsize SUV's, your options are the Mazda CX-9, Honda Pilot, Mitsubishi Pajero, and Ford Explorer.

We already tested montero and we didnt like the ride, compared to the santa fe that we are used to, its just not as refined as it was new.

For new everest, its new, so it would take a lot of queuing and the parts is very expensive so dad didnt mind to look at it.

For fortuner, we are actually waiting for this also, but anyone has an idea on when this will be released? And will the ride be have an upgrade from the previous "matagtag" na ride?

For petrol, my dad wants diesel so it would be a nono for it. He likes the explorer but the gas engine prevents him from getting it.

It may take some time before they release the 4x2 of the Sorrento. There are still stocks of the outgoing Sorrento. If your still after comfort and ride quality stick with the Koreans. The Mux for me offers a more softer ride than the TBZ and has a better interior and equipment package for the 4x2. Most of all its more affordable. The Chevrolet Captiva is another alternative. But is missing out on aircon vents...leather and cruise control.
