Is this a good deal? A friend is offering to swap his CX9 for my CX7 + 800K.

Is the FC of the CX9 really horrible? Won't I have a hard time selling the CX9 later?

From what i read, FC is quite horrible indeed... 4km/L city driving? Highway is around 8km/L. But setting that aside it's a very rewarding drive and the interior space is good indeed.

How much is the resale of the CX7? How much is the resale of the CX9? I'm thinking around +500K or +600K...

CX9 bumper to bumper traffic is 5 km/l. Highway is 8km/l. This is based on actual measurements.
Variance will depend on your driving style.

No idea on the resale value of each car.

My concern really is the FC and the future resaleability of the CX9.

Resale will be terrible. It's always terrible for big gasoline SUVs / Crossovers.

But man, is it so much better than the CX-7... drooool.

I asked a friend regarding the resale value of the CX9, he said the buy and sell guys are not interested in the CX9 and doesn't want to give an appraisal value for the unit.

I guess I'll have to pass on this offer.

^ Yeah. If the case is you are wary on resale, better to pass. But it is a darn good car based on my short stint in one.

Out of curiosity, is the CX7's resale that much better?

For 800k alone, you can already get a decent midsize car around the same age as that CX7. Maybe add a 100k (or a bit more) and you're looking at the previous gen Forester XT. 800k will be too much to ask plus your CX7 for the CX9, not to mention the additional fuel expense you're looking at once you get to use the CX9 the same way you're using the CX7 now.

CX-7, probably be able to sell it for around 500k. So a virtual 1.2m isn't bad for a 2012 CX9.

    Totally impractical, though.
