Tough choice there bro.
If you're a kid racer at heart, the civic would be good for you. If you are a family man, get an altis. Or better yet, just wait for the new gen models coming out. I have seen both cars pimped out and they are both really good. Although, 17" rims on an altis appeal to me better. Just choose a car which puts a smile on your face.
hi noreturn,
just test drive both vehicles before you say anything else.

December 20th, 2005 02:41 PM #94I have an Altis 1.6E (automatic, 2003). I don't have a Civic 1.6 but I have a Civic 2.0 and a City 1.5 (both 2004 model and automatic).
I'll probably compare Altis vs. the 1.5 City.
I thinks Honda "performance-wise", are better. The Altis performs better in a stop and go situation, having more torque at low rpms. Faster arangkada for Altis. But at an open highway, even the 1.5 city will convincingly outrun the Altis despite the difference in displacement.
The Honda engine is obviously more powerful at high RPM. BUT, I feel that whenever I want to drive with my wife and kid, I almost always instinctively reach for the Altis' key. I feel that I'm more comfortable and I'm more confident with the braking power and performance of Toyota. It's acceleration is smoother, though a bit slower while Honda brings out the lead in my foot.
Different strokes for different folks. Toyota exudes confidence, while Honda brings out the pleasure in driving. Personally, though, (without wife and kid on board) Honda it is.

yup, I know. but I don't have a Civic 1.6. if i compare the altis against my Civic 2.0, it'll be more unfair for the Altis. I have drawn the analogy (and I may be wrong) comparing two different classes, with the assumption that a Civic 1.6 will behave (almost) similarly with a 1.5.
At any rate, I'm fully aware that I'm comparing 2 different classes. ;)
