    i'm sorry!
what i meant was, these breadbox vans are more uncomfortable and more potentially dangerous to their drivers than engine-infront vans are.
verily, some readers do not appreciate when a hyperbole has been utilized to emphasize the message. (if shakespeare were alive today, either he'd die of starvation, or he'd be hauled to prison. sigh...)
incidentally, i did not design the van. i only bought it.

The Sta Fe & Carens would be too cramped. Montero would be a good option though I'm using a fort now to haul the family. A van/MPV will be next
    These are my choices.....

Nissan Escapade < Hi-Ace Super/GL Grandia < Hyundai Grand Starex

I agree with the above. For the price of a Previa, you could get a Grand Starex Gold and still have some spare change, besides having the benefit of an efficient diesel and more space. I really think the GS is pretty decent to look at for a van, it may still be boxy sticking to the van design but at least they made some aesthetic improvements. The Grandia on the other hand, is a box with an engine and seats literally.
