    Happy New Year!
Just bring a mechanic with you and test drive mo mabuti. Check for jerking in between shifts and try mo ilipat sa iba't ibang levers ng shifter kung gumagana lahat pati overdrive.

Our first car was a '95 Lancer AT which we bought in 2004. The tranny had some leaks around its seals pero ok naman ang takbo so kinuha na namin. Belatedly noticed the AT shop sticker under the hood a few days after while I was tinkering in the engine bay so medyo kinabahan na ako. Brought it to a trusted shadetree mechanic and he confirmed na napalitan na nga ang tranny so doble kaba.

Lucky for us the tranny lasted until 2010 and got us through quite a few long trips to Batangas, Laguna and Tagaytay. I think ang nakasira lang sa kanya was when my fan died in traffic and the car almost hit the highest level on the temp gauge. After that nagloko na ang tranny so baka tinamaan na ang internals due to overheat. Replaced the tranny for 20k pero the shop did a hack job and puro tulo na after that. It was running ok though pero the repair costs were too much already dahil kelangan ibaba uli and we sold it on for a loss when we got our bnew car in 2011.

So double check and double check some more. Tulo and jerking no go agad. Then takbo mo sya until mga 60kph to confirm that overdrive is working (around 2k rpm lang dapat ang makina at that speed).

    Good luck

    Thanks po.

How about yung maintenance ng Opel Astra Wagon na Manual Tranny? Mga how much po kaya aabutin? Thanks.

Altough nowadays it's pretty much neglected by the market, is still one of the most reliable from its class at the time it was made. Plus having the Aisin 4-speed transmission it would ease an eventual retrofitting of a Toyota engine

Bro cripple_rooster is a foreigner. He probably does not know that this particular model is not officially available here. The one that was officially sold here was the generation after this one, and it was not very successful. 2nd hand Astra's are actually very cheap. At just 100+k for early 2000s units. Even if they are solid cars, parts and maintenance is a big problem.

I bought my 1997 mitsubishi galant AT on Sept. 2009, luckily, up to present, wala pa naman akong naging problema sa trans

At least the Astra B has the same Ecotec engine currently available in the newer Chevrolets, so it makes less complicated to get parts, and maintenance can be performed by any mechanic who works on Chevrolet and Daewoo.
