Ang tanging pasok diyan sa requirement mo is the Chevrolet Captiva and the Kia Sorento.

Both have 7 seats, may gasoline engine, and AWD.

Don't even think of the Captiva. Cramped 3rd row, weak engine and poor after sales means it is not a good vehicle to own at all. Bakit naman gasoline kailangan? 7 seater SUV + 4WD + gasoline engine = very scary gas mileage. Though, yes, the Sorento 2.4L Theta II fits your budget but the performance certainly isn't good since its really made for a 3.5L V6 engine which is available elsewhere. Are you really not going to consider the diesels? Well performing 4x4 gasoline SUVs are going well above the 2M mark already.

I think there's a reason kung bakit gasoline ang hanap niya at hindi diesel.

    Have you tested one?

I think the performance is good enough but as not as good as the CRDi. Yung Santa Fe 2.4 Theta II nakakahabol sa Tucson ko pagdating sa rektahan pero hindi masyado sa arangkada.

I remember that review. Loved that truck.

The 0-100 km/h time is actually better than the CR-V and RAV4, and better than all the diesel ladder-frame trucks (Everest, Fortuner) except maybe the new Montero Sport 4x4 automatic... which is just as quick or a little quicker.

The only way you'd call it underpowered (in the Philippine setting) is if you compared it to the X-Trail, which is a smaller vehicle with a bigger engine and a fantastic CVT, or the Sorento and Santa Fe with the powerful CRDi R-eVGT Holy Freaking Frijoles engine.

And with the stiff anti-roll bars and good steering, it's certainly a lot more secure in terms of handling than 99% of the other "trucks" and crossovers in the size and price range.

A 3.5 liter V6 Sorento? Anong kalaban nun if they'd bring it in? The Murano, Explorer, CX9... Sure... they could probably underbid Ford by selling a V6 Sorento for around 2.2m, but seriously, who's going to buy a V6 Sorento here over the bigger and more refined Explorer or CX9? Kia will keep the status quo by having the Sorento compete in the sub-2m range against the Santa Fe and Montero Sport, while the Veracruz is what it puts up against the big dogs.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Hey guys thanks for the reply, un tatay ko ayaw nya ng diesel dahil sirain daw ito. Ok lng gas kahit mahal.

Anyway, may consideration na po, 7 seater na 4x2. At that range po ano malakas at good na suv na kayang kaya kahit fully loaded passenger and may cargo pa. Eg like going trips to baguio, ilocos, long trips etc . Yun po kayang fortuner 2.7vvti ok ba un or,underpowered?

Mitsu is also releasing a 3.0 V6 Montero Sport, i think around 1.4m the price and you might want to check it out

Says who? We were with Arlan Reyes yesterday talking about their model line-up and future models and there was no mention of a gasoline Montero. At all.

If you're talking about the return of the V6 Outlander (which we also talked about... many of us loved that crossover), then malabo rin yun. And super-malabo at that low a price. 1.4m, loaded 4x2 DiD palang yun... a V6 would cost at least 2m. The V6 gasoline Pajero is in the 2.5 - 2.8m range.

There is a V6 Montero Sport in the Middle East, but they're not being sold in the South East Asian market... you'd have to import a Dubhai unit... and you won't be able to do that for just 1.4m.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Your best bet would probably be just the Sorento. Unless, of course, you are open to considering other alternatives found on the used car market.
