General rule of thumb: more expensive car as brand new... more expensive to repair secondhand. Charade parts aren't as abundant as some other Japanese cars, but they're available in many places.
That said, the Lancer is a roomier car with more power for highway use. The Charade is easy to drive and economical, but it doesn't feel very secure on the highway (if it's still on the dinky stock tires). Still... the Charade is more economical to run. And it looks good, too.
