Hello mga tsikoteers, first time ko po bibili ng 2nd hand car as my 1st car. I'm looking for 2012-2014 models ng Vios 1.3E AT or City 2009 - 2011 AT models. Need tips po kung ano mas okay na model na imaintain.

    1. I will use it po for casual driving. Kasi I'm working at manila at kapag nasa batangas lng ako tsaka ko sya gagamitin. Meaning every weekend.

    2. In terms of FC and maintenance alin po ang mas madali at mas mura I maintain.

    3. Since first time ko po bibili, ano po mga docs na need ko kunin sa seller? (OR/CR, DOS, etc). Although, feeling ko sa 2nd hand dealer na lang ako kukuha para complete docs na.

    4. Any other model na pwede pong include sa choices?? Thanks po sa lahat ng inputs.

Previous gen Yaris. It's the hip Vios that will never be mistaken for a cab. NonCVT, too.[emoji4]

basta not ex-taxi, big step na yan.
buy from an actual seller-owner, "who is selling the car to make way for his new car". they are probably more amenable to discounts, and probably took better care of the car than the bayan sellers who know next to nothing about the car they are hawking, and might even be masking certain defects...

documents to exchange hands: original dapat CR and deed of sale. and xerox of seller's current IDs daw. OR puede xerox. mortgage release papers kung applicable. but personally, i prefer cars that are already in the name of the seller.

Ito rin iniisip ko doc, i see a lot of b&s shops selling 1st owner vehicles. I think they hold an open DOS, so how do we approach such situations? Is this a simple off the showroom transaction or will the owner appear in person to present credentials during the sale?

    Hi guys,

Im in the market for a second hand 7-seater. Since im low on budget, im looking at the 2003 Kia Carnival, Nissan Serena or Mazda MPV. I need some advice on fuel consumption, parts availability and durability.

    Thanks!

The 1st gen Carnival is cheap. So very dirt cheap in fact that I am wary as to how well it will hold up. There have been stories before about reliability issues especially with regards to the automatic transmission.

The Mazda MPV has the same engine as the 1st gen Ranger/Everest. Not so sure if the rest of the parts are just as readily available though since it was only sold in limited numbers.

Nissan Serena is nice. Comfy and decently powerful. But FC is not very good. Some Japan surplus units come with the Navara's YD25 engine. But then of course you have to deal with the typical conversion problems (A/C, steering, brakes, front suspension) if you're unlucky.

The 1st gen Starex also fits in this price bracket, I believe. At least get the "turbo intercooler" version. Guaranteed parts supply anywhere in the long run and guaranteed mechanic familiarity. Its not particularly known for durability, but at least it'll be cheap to fix and run.

We are also considering Starex kaya lang medyo bulky. How about Previa or Venture?

Since FC is one of your concerns DON'T BUY A VIOS.

    I operate 16 Grab cars since 2014.

I had 4 Vios... I sold all of it as it's FC is so bad we lost money,.

Spare parts were surprisingly pricey as well

Why is there hundreds of Ex Uber/Grab Vios being sold in Olx?

Bigger body are aerodynamically more inefficient and heavier as well

The latest Vios' (after Superman) body is smaller, cabin, headroom, and leg room are smaller that Vios Superman.

Engine and most parts are the same, except the shell.

Grab cars travel 200-250kms, 14-16hrs a day... Pag days a week.

    That's how we know...

I've been with Grab/Uber since 2014. I've tried almost all sedans, except Volkswagen

    That's why we know.

Out of curiosity. What is the most bang for buck sedan you've tried?

I'm looking for a 2nd hand SUV/cross over with a budget of 350-420K. Sympre is 350 mas ok, hehehe

    I looked at:

    1. KIA SPORTAGE 2010
    2. CAPTIVA 2012
    3. EVEREST 2007
    4. SUBARU 2007-09

I have used my brand new 2010 GLS lancer for almost 10 years and this will be my first SUV/cross over. I'm OK with gas/diesel as long as parts and maintenance will not be that heavy sa bulsa. My budget to maintain the car is probably higher than what I am spending for my lancer. I know na tataas din sya coz SUV nga plus Pati gas/diesel.

Gusto ko din ung dashboard na medyo bago na look para I really feel na nag upgrade ako ng unit.

I have Subaru there kasi madami na din nag sa sabi na hindi naman daw ganun na kamahal.

Any help/advise will be appreciated mga sirs.

    Thanks.

Gen 2 Santa Fe pasok na sa budget. Parts are generally readily available. Just make sure that there are no odd sounds from the suspension and vibration from the supports.

Among your choices, dun ako sa Everest. Of course practicality and efficiency are higher priorities for me than comfort and refinement. The big cabin space, high payload capacity, high wading depth and diesel engine make it an excellent daily driver/harabas vehicle.

And whichever car you get, change all the fluids, filters and belts. Oh, and a good radiator cleaning. I learned that the hard way. [emoji28]
