December 14th, 2021 12:02 AM #121talagah?
monstero only, or all diesels?
if the latter,
urban legend, if you ask me.
i have three diesel engines in the garage, with almost 290K km in total mileage.
no maintenance headaches.
i'm a toyota fan. you can badmouth mitsubishi all you want. i won't stand in your way.
heh heh.
why do i have this suspicion, that those who badmouth diesels, actually haven't experienced owning them?Last edited by dr. d; December 14th, 2021 at 01:12 AM.

December 14th, 2021 09:27 AM #122Favorite target nga lang ang diesels ng mga infamous ASBU* ng mga LGU.
Those thieves know that (almost) any diesel vehicle, even one freshly driven out of the dealer's showroom will spew black smoke if you "prod" it the right way (bombahin yung accelerator).
And yes, we own a diesel- one of our vehicles is powered by the legendary (and nigh indestructible) Isuzu C240 engine.

December 14th, 2021 04:08 PM #123for me depende sa sasakyan.. pag hauler yan like van or suv dapat diesel talaga.. you need the low end torque eh.. kung gas engine yan, lalamon lang ng gas yan kada arangkada..

December 14th, 2021 08:53 PM #124When some of the top selling diesel powered vehicles has become equipped with DPF like the montero (monstero?), fortuner, everest etc. on the local market, No one will complain on black smoke and it's smell anymore. The only problem is the adblue solution that mitigates black smoke.
Recently i saw a brand new fortuner (still on its dealer conduction plate) in skyway that spews out black smoke shortly. He/she might step on the throttle quite hardly to get passed the slower vios infront.

Baliktad yata.
I've owned both gas and Diesel cars and I can tell you, at least 2-3x gastos sa maintenance ng daily driver ko na gas vehicle. That's not counting yung fact na mas mahal din ang gas fuel kesa Diesel kaya nag-balloon yung TCO. That was my Honda Civic FD 1.8.
Ngayon, Innova D4D 2.5 na halos minimal ang maintenance.

December 15th, 2021 05:07 PM #126ang maintenance ko sa gasoline once in 2years or until I reach 8,000kms. Usually lagpas na 1year mga 16months. Breakdown ko Oil around 1thou, oil filter 400, labor 250. Yan lang. Air filter 30,000kms, cabin filter 15-20,000kms.
Fuel filter i change after 100,000kms.
usually sa facebook groups ang dami problema desel puro fuel system egr. Sa gasolina eh presyo fuel ang mataas. ( but I Lived in true qc na bagsakan presyo gaso)
Yung innova d4d believe ako jan hindi problemado. Pero how about monstero na favorite ng talyer kasi dami aayusin sirain.
ibreakdown mo bakit mas mahal gas engine mo sa desel.

December 15th, 2021 09:21 PM #127diesel maintenance is easy, because diesel engine has no sparking plugs nor hi voltage ignition system.
my only maintenance expense with diesel engine is the change oil and filter, every 5000 km.
it costs me less than 2500 bucks per.
i have no egr issues.
then there's the timing belt, about 10K per 100K km or so, at the casa.
