Filipinos will probably have to switch sooner than 20 years because we will run out of sources for new diesel vehicles. Not unless the locally made L300 will still be around in 2042.

Thailand, the ASEAN manufacturing hub for vehicles will only sell EVs by 2035 like Europe.
China, will only sell EVs and Plug-in Hybrids by 2035.
Japan will most likely be like China since they don't want to let go of their hybrid vehicles.

Will they continue to build older gen pure Internal Combustion Engine diesel and gasoline vehicles for the Philippines after 2034? We'll see. Chances are they (at least Thailand) will retool their plants for EV production.

    panira yung galvanizado.
galvanizing it would have improved the rust-resistance,
but galvanized metal doesn't look very nice.
and stinless is simply bad. utterly lacking in soul.

    and the headlights.
it's not a true jeepney if the headlights aren't round.

I agree that the Fortuner is very ubiquitous - there are at least a hundred Fortuners in my condo parking, while I couldn’t even find another gen 4 CRV 2.4 SX in the entire building.

That said, I still like the Fortuner’s appeal. It’s a mass-market car yes (anyone who thinks it’s an exclusive car needs a reality check), but it’s a very sensible choice - reliable, spacious, efficient, and now well-spec’d.

The Fortuner is a middle class staple. Just the right size for our roads and proven reliability. Its a car which you see all over the country, unlike something like a Ford Explorer which is only common in the cities and almost non existent in the provinces.
