    i'm planning to buy a used vios 2005 for 260k a/t transmission.

    need your expert advice.....

260k for a Vios? 1.3E A/T ba yan? Saan mo yan nakita? Kakilala mo ba yung nagbebenta? By your description parang laspag na o kaya na-Ondoy. Market price for a good condition 2003 Vios A/T is normally at around 300k and above. Take extra caution with this car, I'm smelling a rat... The Civic EK is an excellent car, and its not something I'd compare to a Vios. Yung Vios kasi may electronic throttle so napakabilis tumaas ang revs even in the slightest prod of the throttle which gives the impression of lots of power, but which isn't really the case. A good condition EK Civic VTi, heck kahit pa LXi will definitely outrun a Vios 1.3E A/T. And it is rather cramped inside, don't you think? Not much headroom for everyone and rather limited legroom at the back.

    sir gti,

what can you say about doon sa tumatalsik na langis at usok pagtanggal ng oil cap. sign ba ito na may tama ang engine
    or normal lang?

Well, kapag may tumatalsik, obviously something is not right with it. Lagi ba yan tumatalsik? Oh kapag mainit lang yung engine? You can check out the Vios threads in the Toyota section for more in depth info about this model. I would suggest you stay away from this one. Unless kakilala mo at presyong pangkaibigan o pangkamag-anak yan, there is definitely something wrong with it.

    sir gti,

    regarding sa question mo...
lagi ba yan tumatalsik?

what is your opinion about this?

Normally naman talaga kung mainit yung makina it is unwise to open the oil cap since there is the tendency na tatalsik ang langis sayo which would lead to very disastrous results on your part. I'm not so sure if hindi talaga nangyayari yan sa small 1.3L engines. Best to ask a mechanic or better yet, a taxi driver for his first hand opinion. And then test drive mo rin in various conditions for any suspicious sounds, sights, or smells.

But seriously, I do not recommend you get that car. A last batch EK 2000 Civic VTi would probably be a much better car than this. Or if you're OK with downsizing, perhaps a 2003 City Type-Z VTi.

The Vios is a good car, economically. But practically comparing it with the VTi, not so. I've rode in both ( Vios & VTi ) for a couple of times. I'm quite impressed with the VTi more. Spacious. And feels so much safer. I hate having cramped legroom, especially on the passenger side, and that's one thing I hate about the Vios. Considering that I'm not that tall ( 5'8" 1/2 ), it's something you should look into.

And for 260k, it's actually pretty cheap. And a bit too good to be true. There might be a catch, be wary.

Regarding the spilling oil, I have yet to encounter nor hear about that. So I'm having thoughts that it's something abnormal. I might be wrong, though.

sir gargoyle, may i suggest, open your vti's oil filler cap and see if may tumatalsik rin. then, you decide whom to believe.
but why do you want to shift to vios, ngayong naka vti ka na..?

    Sir Dr. D,

This is my plan, I'll be using the Civic VTI while my wife will be using the Vios. So I am looking for the best 2nd hand car for her.
