Design wise, maganda talaga kasi former Audi designer nag-pen nito. Pero like any car, may issues sya. Cons are:

    1. Power steering motor - Most occasions, lumalagutok sya at tumitigas ang manibela. You need to replace the electric power steering motor and it may cost around 15k to replace it. Lucky enough, there are a few specialists that refurbish these motors for half the price lang. Home service pa.
    2. ECU - I seen a few cases of the transmission gets stuck that 3rd gear. Parang limp mode. Kailangan palitan ang ECU and there are some specialist again that sells refurbished units. Probably cause lang naman ito ay the ECU getting wet.
    3. Aircon - most common fault is a defective ECV valve. Simple palit lang naman and cheap rin.

Once naayos naman ito, smooth sailing na sya. Pros naman ay:

    1. Generally a reliable car and I haven't had any major problems, specially on the engine and underbody.
    2. They also share parts with the Hyundai Accent so parts are easy to come by.
    3. Very practical ang hatchback.
    4. Cool air-con.
    5. Fun to drive, pogi pa! At magalang sya (you'll find out once you own one).

Gandang ganda, talaga ako sa model na eto, end yours Sir is black NICE!. Na encounter nyo ba eto lahat ng CONS sa car nyo? If ever can you share were you took the car for repairs? Kung eto lang and very repairable naman agad yung kotse and not so expensive repair. Baka sumugal nko and get me one for myself.

Yung ECU issues is if the car ran into floods and ECU got wet? or pag engine wash it might also the culprit? Any idea on how much is the ECU?
Saan po meron refurbished power steering motor?
Any idea po how much ECV valve?

If ever ok naman yung car na nakuha, is it still recommended na replace na agad yung mga CONS in your list?

    Salamat Boss sa reply.

Only the power steering issue. There is a Kia Rio group sa Facebook and its very active. There are a few shops they recommend and I contacted one and they went sa bahay (galing sila Bacoor, taga Pasig ako) and replaced the power steering motor with a refurb one for half the price of a new one, inclusive of labor na yun. So far good pa naman sya.

My car is 6 years old. Yun pa lang pina-ayos ko at wheel alignment. So far easy to repair nga sya kasi nga malakas yun FB group in recommending parts and places to have it fixed. There are 2 or 3 places that does the refurbishing of these parts. Specialist na sila sa Rio and Accent so reliable naman sila as alternative service centers.

As for the ECU and ECV, no idea of the prices pero I guess affordable naman. I heard nga sobrang buga ng engine wash can cause the problem. I don't think na baha will cause it kasi mataas naman placement ng ECU.

I would highly recommend that you buy one. Alamin mo lang history ng car baka pina-ayos na nila any of those, but I do not recommend replacing all of them once you buy one. At least you know what to do kapag na-encounter mo na itong issues.

Mga 20k pa lang ang mileage ko. The group name is Kia Rio Club Philippines ( OFFICIAL ).

My only comparison that I can do is versus a Honda City na 1.5L. Kasing lakas nya yun 1.5 maski 1.4 lang sya, so you can consider it na malakas rin. But its not really a big issue.
