Hi TS, I have the same dilemma last year 2nd hand (cash buy) or Brand new (installment which I will use my cash at hand for DP).
In the end, I choose Brand new (Mirage) for the following consideration:
1. Fuel consumption - pag naguusap kami ng mga officemate comparing their 2nd car from my mirage inggit na inggit sila sa tipid ng konsumo ng Mirage.
2. Since I have little knowledge about car maintenance or car stuffs in general, ok na saken yung brand new 5 years warranty pa.
3. ilang Baha na dumaan, your lucky if you find a 2nd hand flood free.
my 2 cents

September 8th, 2013 12:05 PM #23questions i ask myself whenever i get the urge to buy a car...
1. can you afford brand new? i mean, really afford, that you do not have to change your lifestyle to buy one?
2. do you know how to "service" cars? or are you a total innocent? this is a used car, after all..
3. do you have somewhere else where you can put your money and make it earn significant money?
4. is your prospect used car a good buy, or do you have issues with it?
what would i do? both. i have done both in the past..
good luck.

Lahat ng nabili naming 2nd hand usually nagkakaproblema after a year. Usually minor lang naman. Tapos yung isa after 3 years major yung sira. Most probably dahil yun sa previous owner kasi ang sabi sa amin nung binebenta na namin eh nabangga raw or nabaha tapos wala na raw yung airbag at dineactivate lang yung sensor parang ganun. Soooo.. Kung madami kang alam sa kotse at ready ka naman pagnagkaproblema, 2nd hand is okay. Pero kung katulad ko ikaw, brand new nalang. Puros brandnew na bibilhin namin after our last 2nd hand. You get peace of mind pa for at least 3 years or 5. Depende sa brand. Toyota para sure. Maganda yung bagong vios. Konting dagdag nalang.

September 8th, 2013 06:07 PM #26Can casa check if a car is flooded? If can, then siguro when buying a second hand and upon inspection e nagustuhan naman ang car.pwede naman siguro ask sa seller if papayag sya ipacheck sa casa kung flooded o hindi. If not flooded talaga or no major prob sa car, confident ang seller na ipacheck sa casa

September 9th, 2013 10:05 AM #27in my opinion, the only sure way casa can say the car was flooded, is because it was the one that fixed it up afterward. beyond that, with so many good detailers out there, it's everyone's guess. water in the car? it can come from under it, or above it..
