depende sir sa pagkaminor nung minor repairs,
check the over condition nung car sir,
mga kadalasang prob ng lancer itlog:
-servo -idling problems
-underchassis -kalampag issue
better double check the unit ng maigi.
have a good eye also sa mga flooded units.
but if kilala mo previous owner, and alam mo maalaga sa auto,
good na yan.
goodluck sir, and if kukunin mo na, enjoy!

^+1 - depende sa magagastos mo or sa problema nung tranny.
pero kung ako, di ko na lang kukunin. kung kukuha ako ng 2nd hand e yung in good running condition na. para yung extrang pera pang-maintain or pang-accessory na lang...

I don't consider transmission repairs as minor actually.
And good buy is not solely on price but overall condition of the car. I'd pay a slight premium for a car that's as original as possible (especially if it's paint is still original), if it's still being sold by the first owner, and service/maintenance records or receipts are there to support the condition of the car.

May 16th, 2012 11:50 AM #7Mas prefer kung kilala mo yung owner mismo.. Depende kung ano yung minor problem.. Usually ang problem ng Lancer that model is the idling issue and suspension... kung idling repairable naman yan or convertible to toyota something... Kung ako kasi bumibili ng sasakyan eto yung mga critical sa aken
1. Owner.. Usually mas prefer kung yung direct sa owner and mas prefer kung kilala.
2. Body.. Preferably Original paint kahit medjo may faded portion.. kung repainted check for mis alignment ng body which will indicate major accident
3. Engine.. Preferable do an compression test.. check oil level before starting the car.. check radiator for oil residue... check engine leaks.. check exhaust pipe kung may residue ng oil or blue/white smoke while reving... pag putol yung muffler niya or scub stay away na kasi modus din ng mga buy and sell yan para hindi mo ma check kung may oil yung tail pipe... tapos sasabihin na sporty...
4. Suspension and transmission.. test drive ng mabuti... check kung may kabig or rattle sa manibela
5. Syempre papers check mabuti
I do not believe in minor problem..

I wouldn't consider "tranmission" as minor repairs.
BUT if you still want to follow-up on this car, if the rest of the car is in good/acceptable condition, you have to consider the cost of repairing the transmission might actually mean you'll be replacing the entire tranny.Last edited by ghosthunter; May 16th, 2012 at 11:53 AM.

Prepare 15-20k for a tranny replacement with a surplus unit if it's an automatic. Servos can be had for around 6k I think. The base trim EL is actually IMO more preferable for cars this age. Less electronics to die on you. Just have it converted to power steering at a REPUTABLE shop.

May 16th, 2012 01:25 PM #10Matindi na kapag transmission ang may tama. Avoid if possible. Might as well get the GLXi. All power amenities na at mas malakas ang engine. Find a unit that is in excellent working condition, yung wala ka nang aayusin na major. Also, it would be preferable to get a manual.
Even better, I suggest you get a B14 Sentra. Lower resale means you can get a good unit that is 2-3 years younger than a Lancer or Corolla selling for the same price bracket.
3M Color Stable series are all above 50% TSER. RFID readable through the tint, stays good for...
What's the best car tint brand and color?
