April 5th, 2008 11:25 AM #1Hi there,
sorry if this duplicate some threads, i didnt want to "hijack" someone elses' thread kasi
anyway, I'm a newbie na, cheapie pa! bec I'm looking for the lowest priced Audio upgrade I could find...
Wala naman talaga akong balak mag-upgrade, I used to plug my MP3 celphone to a cassette adaptor... then someone recently gave me an MP3 modulator (transmitter) as a gift. I just plug in a 1 gig sd card and listen to the MP3s via FM radio... its cool and convenient (may remote pa). I know some people say its not CD quality but I find it ok na rin... Stereo quality naman.
Now I'm thinking tuloy to add FRONT Speakers (I only have REAR speakers now), and possibly an equalizer or a better HU for a better output. Lalo na we plan to drive to Baguio later this month, naisip ko ok rin to have good sounds for a 5-6 hour trip
Last year , I just replaced my REAR speakers (basag na kasi sound), I inquired and mahal ang mga HUs with MP3 capalities or CD players. I also inquired if I can place FRONT speakers, sabi sa akin yung current HU ko (Pioneer, came with the car 12 years ago) CANNOT support 4 speakers... (is this true?) So i guess I have to upgrade my HU then... (ok pa naman sya.. except di na mabasa ang LCD readout so i cant see anong FM station na ka set)
Anyone have a suggestion? sorry if Im cheap pero wala this is not a planned purchase kasi, naisipan lang....
Im wondering din why in the age where china made DVD players and Subwoofers/Speakers that sells for P 1,000, wala bang similarly priced Car Radios?
Do I need an equalizer?
Saan area and shop ma-suggest nyo? Evangelista, Banawe, Raon, Araneta or somewhere else?
I usually go to Evengelita for my car parts, pero some shops Ive checked have limited choices for car audio (puro Pioneer and Alpine)
I frequent Raon too, but i dont notice shops where they have car audio.. any suggestions here? And do they install? (may parking ba and di ba delikado?)
saorry for the long inquiry.. hope someone can suggest... thanks po mga masters!!

April 5th, 2008 02:16 PM #4Boss, sa CDR King, it sells only for 580! reduced price, last month it was 680 and last year even higher. Just plug in a USB mem stick (or what I did, I used a 60 pesos USB reader to put in my 1 Giig SD card), plug it in your cigarette adapter, choose from several FM frequencies, match your radio tuner to that frequency, and it will transmit the MP3s via your radio speakers! It comes with remote control pa.
very affordable talaga.. I saw same units selling in 168 mall ranges from 700 to 1200 pesos! (the more expensive onces allows direct SD card plug in, pero mas cheap pa rin yung gumamit ka na lang ng 60 pesos adaptor).
It may not be for the discerning audiophile.. they say its not CD quality.. and sometimes may radio interference and a slight hiss when you listen to soft ballads... pero kung Disco/Rock music di ko na napapansin
All in all a cheap alternative instead of buying a more expensice MP3/CD/AUX capable HU .. kaya nga lang i still end up thinking of buying a new HU anyway just to get 4 way speakers.. thats why im looking for the CHEAPEST.. hehe

April 5th, 2008 02:23 PM #5thanks for the tip boss hellfire...
pardon my ignorance (total newbie talaga)... what is Targa? Ive seen it mentioned a few times.. do you have a price range for this?
Im familiar with Raon.. thats where I buy my China-made DVD players (sa Raon Shopping center in Quiapo).
Also sa Sta Cruz side, sa may Carriedo (thats where i buy my discs naman..hehe )
I just didnt notice they sell car audio too (siguro i wasnt looking for them so i didnt notice).

ang alam ko lang kasi are the basics: The Radio, The Speakers, and what I thought are called Equalizers. yung 2 car ng mga utol ko may ganun, tapos 4 speakers (front and back). I plugged in the MP3 modulator sa cars nila, mas maganda kasi sound bec 4 way speakers and may Equalizer (Bass, treble adjustment). Inggit tuloy ako.. hehe (btw, yan pa maganda sa modulator, you can use it in other cars)
dati a long long time ago may binili akong car stereo w/ built in equalizer pa nga (1 unit instead of 2 seperate units).. pero nanakaw yung kotseng yun..hehe
re: your advice to just buy subs.. ok lang even if my HU, according duon sa dating tinanungan ko, di daw pwedeng mag 4 speakers? Wouldnt you suggest i get extra 2 speakers para 4 na ang speakers ko?
Im glad i found this site para makatanong naman sa mga experts... kasi if i just walk in any shop, ma sa-sales talk lang ako e.. baka kung ano-ano ang ipakabit ko na di naman pala advisable.... (lalo na pag maganda ang saleslady...hehe)

targa(s) is a brand, they have seps/subs that are proudly PI made...don't have any info as of now, but that brand is (one) of the cheapest here, bang for the buck and about, HU's just look in every intersection of raon and you'll not miss the abundance of stores in there...just be carefull of snatchers, near quiapo...so needless to say, just go there na nka shorts and wear ung me butas na shirt and you'll blend in fine park mo nalang sa isetann ride mo, safe pa........

April 6th, 2008 03:34 PM #9sir, why not just buy new speakers (targa) then put it sa front then remove your rear speakers? or just simply transfer your rear speakers sa front? i bet maganda magiging tunog nun. magiging maganda dahil sa "front stage" effect.
kapag gusto niyo kasi ng 4 speakers talagang magpapalit kayo ng head unit, and mahirap humanap ng nasa 2k price range na brand new/with quality. pag gusto niyo rin ng added bass panibagong gastos nanaman yun, diba sir?
happy hunting!

pero kung 2k naman budget mo try changing speakers nga kasi kung HU baka promac lang mabibili mo kasi even in raon ang benta nila na mura is around 2500. you can buy 2nd hand units na lang siguro sa HCP members.. i suggest pioneer
Thank you!
