budget of 10-15k tpos di na papalitan yung head unit....

    TIA

a key to a good sound system is a good driver (HU and amp). kahit maganda speakers mo kung stock ang HU mo at mahina ang amp mo, di ka din masasatisfy. extend mo ng onti budget mo sir. buy a pioneer HU, let`s say 3150UB or 4150SD, tapos for budget meal setup, V12 amp, and targa seps & sub, rough estimate ko mga 20k yan siguro. i suggest na kay Erick (of Sun-X) ka magpagawa. Naipanalo nya sa KACompetition SQ division (KotseAudioClub) yung Vios na ang setup e targa lang saka V12. kahit yung mom ni erick ok kausap. or kung gusto mo ng a level higher sa targa, try mo powerbass.

The stock HU are factory-EQ'd to not over-exert the factory speakers, even if you set the bass setting to max. Once EQ'd out, no amount of post-EQ or amplification (at least practically) will bring back the lost sound details.

I don't know about the 1st Gen City but, on the 2nd Gen City (2009), including the 06-09 Civic, and 09 Jazz, there's a key combination that you can press while powering up the HU that will set the EQ to a flat DSP setting. This will make the bass louder. The catch is, this mode is returned to the factory setting everytime you turn off the ACC.

Adding amps and new speakers but using the stock HU is a lost cause, IMO. You're better off spending 20-30k for a system that provides good sound quality than spend half on a system that will only make the stock HU's "OEM sound" louder. But that's me.
