Mahal maintenance sa Casa (obviously). But you can buy consumables sa labas naman (just like our Volvo).
Fuel economy is good. Solid 8km/L sa urban cycle yung sa pinsan ko. Baka mas mataas pa kung open roads kaso he seldon takes it on long trips. May ibang car siya for that.
The vehicle itself is not really that exotic in construction. If you are good with a wrench, you can work on it.

this prefacelifted 3series only had 2 variants here before
318i and 325i. walang 316i and all AT. 4speeds on 4cyl. 5AT on 325i. engines were not yet valvetronic equipped.
yung facelifted E46 316i was actually a 1.8L 115hp (the only non valvetronic left)5MT only unit.
yung facelifted E46 318i was 2.0L sort of like replaced the E36 320i although four banger na lang sya. horsepower is 143. ang its 5AT only.

To your point, may nabasa nga ako dito na nagsabi, people buy the 316i para lang masabi na naka BMW sila. I've never heard anybody say people buy a Vios para lang sabihin na naka Toyota sila, i mean, what's the difference? People should respect other people's preference and not be quick to judge.

November 5th, 2006 12:27 PM #59if you want bmw 4 cylinder power, get the 318is! it's manual and has 140 hp i beleive . . . and consumption is still very economical
316i - bang for the buck bimmer. fuel consumption is great! and just like any other car, as long as you are very careful with your car, maintenance will never be an issue! besides, just by the fact that you own a bmw or chose to buy a bmw, you acknowledge the reality of maintaining one - so please, no complaints
and true, at the same time, as we buy 316i, we know we are not buying a powerful car - put a practical luxurious car. it shares the same body, safety features, rigidity and feel as its bigger engined brothers in the same platform. so, no loss at all from my point of view. how i see it, own one, dress it up (simple and clean), plus its great fuel consumption, we have a winner!
power from an e36, get an ///M3
US: 240hp
Euro: 280hp
Evo version: 320hp
for non ///M3
4cylinder: 318is: 140hp
6cylinder: 325i: 190hp
6cylinder: 330i: 220hp
316i = luxury, manual transmission, fuel economy and it being bmw - ultimate driving machine
enough said! hehehe

Pssst ... atin-atin lang 'to ha Hanggang 328i lang ang E36 non-///M3.
FWIW, BMW has done a good job on their 1.6li engine. The fact that E36's were equipped with 1.6 to 3.2li, petrol or diesel engine means that the E36 was meant to appeal to a broad range of people with different needs, and not everyone.Last edited by StraightSix; November 6th, 2006 at 02:49 AM.
