Mazda Europe may have the MPS version of the Mazda3 (known as the Mazdaspeed3 in North America), with a stout 260+ hp, but leave it to BMW to roll out the King Kong of production hatchbacks - the 135ti. While other high-performance hatchbacks struggle to manage powerful engines in a front-wheel drive package, BMW takes full advantage of its hatchback model's RWD platform by stuffing in a 3-liter turbocharged six-cylinder powerplant, putting 306 ponies at the driver's disposal.

The pictures looks like it's a photoshop.

A 3-door BMW hatch? The rear doors are just painted/stickered on.

Not a Photochop. Too hard to do reflections like that, and why would you put on the disguise tape in front and the stickered on rear door?

And in the bottom pic, the silver car is a Mercedes with a rounded butt, while the black BMW 1-series has a concave behind, which reverses the reflection.

Good news for the American market. If they're testing a three-door version of the BMW 1-series, that must mean they're close to US market readiness... because... face it... a five door 1-series is pretty useless... it makes more sense as a 2+2... or, hopefully, as a coupe (no hatch)

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

O.T.: The silver car is the all-new Opel Corsa(3-door model), not a Mercedes.

Aren't they waiting for a real 2-door coupe? ...the one this cabriolet is based on...

Thanks for the correction... in either case, it's not a 1-series.

Yup... word is that they aren't bringing the 1-series stateside till it comes out... God knows how long it will take...
