kung only car go for a newer jap brand. Kung 3rd or just a weekend car, why not? An e30 would be a nice weekend car to have. Pero good question, pano ba malalaman kung nahihiya yung katabi? Ako kasi pag may nakakatabi akong z3 or slk na B-Plate hndi ako nahihiya kahit jap car lang akin.

^ yes. that's why affected ang price ng local z3, slk and boxter dito. include those e36 coupe's also. mura lang kasi sa japan then pag dating dito usually 40-50 thousand pesos ang tax. We service those euro cars na ayaw tanggapin sa dealer.

ano po ba ang differences ng mga model ng BMW? balak ko sana 2000+ model.

    matibay ba ang BMW?

maintenance - surely i can't afford going to the casa for repairs, saan nagpapagawa ang mga naka-BMW? magastos ba ang maintenance nito?

is it fuel efficient? which model?

how about spare parts? madali ba makakuha? i mean may mga 3rd party ba (like in the case of toyota/mitsubishi) and marami ba sa banawe?

wala kasi akong idea naka mitsu lang ako ngayon.

i know na kapag bibili ng 2nd hand car, kailangan may naitabi kang at least 50k for repairs sa mga hidden defects ng kotse. but this is for ordinary cars. magkano kaya kelangan itabi for this brand?

If 2000+ model, that's E46. Go for 318i. But if you can afford 325i, better. Also, preferably go for the face lifted version. For repairs, I think 50k is enough but it depends on the condition of the car you're going to get. I suggest bring it to Klassik in QC and have them do a 100 point check up to know everything that needs to be fixed in the car.

Contrary to popular belief, it is easier and not that expensive to maintain BMWs. You just have to know where to get the parts and where to bring it. For parts, you can get them at german motors. They service BMW and Benzs as well. You can also get them from Mark Robles or Enkat or Ricky Chua. For service, go to ARC Automotive in Pasong Tamo or German Motors in Libis. There's also Top Speed in QC.

I suggest you also look at the E36 320i. Those are really easy to maintain and not expensive as well. Plus they are very reliable. The key to 2nd hand cars is finding one that is well maintained so you really have to get the car inspected. =)

The Z3 and E36 share the same platform. The Z3 is actually the E36/7. So parts are in abundance. I prefer the older BMWs because the newer ones have heavy dependence on electronics. The E30 is a good project car. If you can get it to run and be your daily driver, you'll get more stares from it. It's already a modern classic.

One thing good about BMWs, you can buy parts for it anywhere in the world. There is only one parts catalog used globally, so sourcing parts isn't an issue. There are local parts suppliers as well as independents who do a good job in servicing BMWs. Frau Motors in San Juan and ARC in Makati.

Try asking for a part number of a Japanese car here in the PH. You'll probably get a different part number for it in the US or elsewhere.
