B plate or whatever, at the end of the day, the owner is trying to restore or maintain a Euro. The older the car, the better. You are investing in a racing pedigree, or a car that made history for the brand or was a technology breakthrough during its time. I have Japanese vehicles, but I prefer driving a Euro anytime. Sheer driving pleasure.

Ito kuha ko lang sa internet share ko lang:

It must be a BMW because...

    1. When you drive a bmw and then you go to drive another car and you feel embarrassed
    2. Newer cars from other companies finally have the same tech you do in your 10 year old car and they claim its new and revolutionary

    3. When you walk up to your car at the dealership, and you still get in with a smile even though brand new 3 series are right behind you

    4. When you get in another car and wonder why the steering is so light

    5. People get jealous of your 10 year old, $10k car while they own a brand new $30k car

    6. Everytime a new car goes by you think your's is better.

    7. Your friends try to make excuses of why their ricer car is better but you just laugh

    8. when people trip out that your 9 yr old bmw is cleaner and brighter than their brand new camry

    9. You drive down the road and people going the opposite direction stare at your car as you pass

    10. Nobody believes you when you say your car is over 10 years old

    11. Your 10 year old car still looks better than most brand new cars.

    12. Your 10 year old car is mistaken consistently as a newer vehicle.

    13. When everyone automatically thinks your a "rich kid"

    14. People stop and watch your car as you drive by in parking lots

    15. Your car gets more attention than your counter part
this guy has some serious insecurity issues....

Heck even my girlfriend (who does not know anything about cars and drives her car as long as it is running) notices that my project car is more fun to drive than a new CRV or Civic. :P
Driving pleasure is just one aspect of car ownership. Maybe the guy prefers his japanese car because of its value for money and reliabilty. its funny that you report that your GF "does not know anything about cars" but you then cite her as an expert in reiterating that your project car ( which i have no idea how old/road worthy/model) is "more fun to drive than a new CRV or Civic". its like a blind man saying that he prefers the color blue to color black.... funny guy indeed

    Hi BMW owners,

I'm thinking of getting a late 90s BMW 320i E36, my usual SOP is to get all the belts changed, change oil, and a tune up, after the usual inspection of the under chassis and all.

    Thus I'd like to know:

    1. How much will it cost me to have the timing chain and auxiliary belts changed?

    2. Change oil and tune up?

    Ballpark figures are ok, thanks!

The same thing can be said about European cars. :P Oh but you miss the point on my post. I never said that she was an expert. I said she noticed that the project car is more fun to drive. That simply translates into I can go through a swerving road because the car easily follows the line as compared to the Civic and the CRV where you have to break etc. Does that sound like an expert to you? In the same manner that people can say basketball is more fun because you just shoot the ball as compared to soccer where you have to use your feet. Or its like saying I like Apple laptops because they don't crash as much as windows. Surely you don't need to be an expert to say those things. Oh and its surely not like a blind man saying that he prefers the color blue to color black. :P Now that's funny. Thinking that saying one thing is more fun translates into an expertise on the matter. You missed my point my friend. Point was if a person who does not know anything about cars feels that the car is more fun to drive than a new car, then it says something about the old car. :P Tsk tsk. She does not need to be an expert to feel that one car drives better than another.

I suggest you change all the fluids and not just the oil. For those, you can call Topspeed or ARC Automotive.

i was reacting to the previous post na nahihiya DAW tumabi ang mga jap cars sa euro cars incase you're not reading. kung ganyan nalang buhay ng tao puro FUN to drive then euro car it is. i own a euro car also but maybe not as fortunate as you 'cos in my world hanap-buhay muna before racing-racing all day, everyday.

driving pleasure if you can live with:

    -sagging headliner
    -whistling brake coupling
-constantly lit "check engine" warning light
-constantly lit "abs, dsc," malfunction warning light
-cooling system that needs bleeding every top up
    -dodgy electronics
    -defective trannies; gearbox esp e46
-diagnostic and reset tool necessary every time you go for preventive maintenance
    and the list goes on...

That is one poorly maintained car. Should try one that is well maintained and runs well.

Sheer driving pleasure doesn't mean racing. Just enjoying driving the car already gives great pleasure.
