Re: Avanza Engine Problem
Boss slod22 denso iridium din gamit ko sa avanza ko, one thing i noticed, quieter yung engine and mas malakas yung hatak, as for fuel economy, noticed ko na di ko na ma attain yung best ko na 19km per 1 liter sa highway, average ko ngayon sa highway is 12km per liter. drop in fuel economy in exchange for quieter and more power engine. next change oil am planning to use standard denso or ngk spark plug to see if my fuel economy will improve. =)

Re: Avanza Engine Problem
boss s10pao, na check ko na yung gap and lahat sila exactly the same yung gap distance, as i've read, iridium sparkplugs are usually used in performance cars and meron ako nakausap na autoparts/car enthusiast na gamit nila sa drag racing iridium sparkplug because it gives a bit more power. another factor na naisip ko dahil sa e10 fuel, nung na achieve ko yung 19km/L wala pa yung e10 dito sa western visayas and yung sparkplug ko that time ay yung standard na denso for avanza. when i changed to iridium sparkplug lahat na gas station dito ay may halo na ng e10, dun na nagstart na notice ko there is a drop in fuel economy. so i think yung dalawang factor yung nag contribute sa drop in fuel economy.

Re: Avanza Engine Problem
Ang spark plug matagal na rin talaga lifespan, sa akin dati going 30K hindi pa napapaitan no problem pa rin naman.
Actully yung sa iba nga kung babasahin mo sa net, mga 50K kms bago nagpapalit eh. No need to change kung walang problem, sayang sa pera eh IMO.

Re: Avanza Engine Problem
ung gap kasi may recommended range yan. at minsan kailangan mo rin paglaruan ung gap (within the recommended range) na hiyang dun sa engine mo (fine tuning). na-check mo na rin ba kung tama ung heat range? can you tell us the model of the iridium spark plugs used? sa next pms/check-up mo tingnan mo condition nung spark plugs without being cleaned. i-compare mo sya dito
Spark Plug Diagnosis
may mga spark plugs naman talaga na high-performance intended for racing. pero hinde naman exclusive na pang racing or high-performance ang iridium spark plugs. hindi ilalagay ng honda sa jazz units nila ang iridium spark plugs kung makakalakas ito sa fuel consumption. possible na ung transition to e10 ang isa sa contributing factos kung bakit lumakas ang fuel consumption pero tingin ko hinde dapat ganun ka drastic. again i suggest na ipa-check mo ung engine mo at iba pang components nung car mo kung bakit ganyan kalaki ung increase sa fuel consumption. marami kasing factors ang nakaka-affect sa fuel economy. examples are wheel alignment, engine oil, drivning habits and conditions, and engine condition itself. ung increase in fuel consumption, especially sa case mo na sobrang drastic, is a sign na may problema. hopefully, hinde lang talaga hiyang ung car mo sa iridium spark plugs.

Re: Avanza Engine Problem
salamat boss s10pao for the suggestion, road conditions is also a factor, i remember nung na achieve ko yung 19km/L, distance travelled was around 200km in a well paved asphalt road no uphill or downhill with only 3 of us in the car, sa negros occidental yun(from Bacolod City to Cadiz City). i remember that day kasi konti lang yung kasama mong sasakyan along the way, no traffic, smooth travel talaga and one of the most enjoyable drive =). next na paguwi namin ng bacolod balak ko naman is to check the wheel alignment just to be sure. btw cannot remember the model number of my denso iridium sparkplug (either ixu22 or vxu22) but i made sure na yun ang compatible sa oem denso sparkplug na for avanza.
