can any1 refer me to someone who knows how to disengage and take off the centercover of the steering wheel with an airbag?

The dealer should know how to do that. Iwan mo na lang sa kanila yung unit tapos dalin mo yung wheel hub cover kung saan yung gagawa ng modification na tinext mo sakin.

yung isang friend ko dito, sya lang ang nagtanggal nung steering cover ng frontier nya equipped with airbag. basta i-disconnect lang yung battery para walang power ang airbag mechanisms.

Make sure you wait for sometime after removing your battery before actual removal of the airbag. May back-up system ang mga airbag.

katakot nga, sa canada n us, ive heard horror stories na pumutok yung airbag n it was fatal.arte ko kasi, gusto ko kasi paleather yung center ng steering wheel.

It's actually easy to remove an airbag if you have the proper size allen wrench with the "star" pattern (this is with Nissans at least). There are usually two nuts on each side holding one side of the airbag panel, once you've unscrewed both, you can remove the airbag already then disconnect the wire at the back (i think the airbag light goes on though and has to be reset at the CASA).
Wheelers Suspension Haus in Banawe can do it if you want someone to do it for you so you can observe for the first time.

dittto remove negative battery terminal before doing any airbag removal. are we talking of vehicle airbag or our senators and congressmen?
