I've read that wet sanding and buffing is the solution to orange peel. However, most experts wouldn't recommend wet sanding factory paint because 1) it's thinner than custom paint jobs, and 2) the paint is harder, hence, it would be difficult to buff off the wet sanding marks.
So, an idea crossed my mind.
Why not put on additional layers of clear coat on the factory paint? That way, you would have more thickness in clear coat and thus it would be safe to wet sand.
Is this such a crazy idea?
Another question: Have any of you actually wet sanded factory paint, and would you say it's safe to do so?
Hoping the detailing gurus in this esteemed forum would give their ideas.
