Buffing does not cause fading. It can cause thinning, burn marks, stripping if done incorrectly. Wear will cause fading. that is why, you should apply protection (waxes, sealants) after buffing or polishing.
Regarding topcoat, i guess what he means is applying clear coat. Clear coat is paint. You can't apply clear coat after buffing. You need to sand it down first.

buffing is for not so old vehicle 2 to 3 year old with minor scratch...to bring back the luster of the vehicle.. top coat? no way! as BlackMagic says you need to sand it down 1st para kumapit yung topcoat... i don't know if will work on top coat alone.. maybe 1coat of paint again and top coat...parang naging hilamos na ah...

just remember to do maintenance after buffing such as regular cleaning, waxing. Protect the output you achieve with buffing.

October 22nd, 2008 11:18 AM #7basically nakakafade talaga ng paint ang buffing using RUBBING Compound... kasi Rubbing compound is a MICRO SANDER that can remove any contaminants attached to your top coat.. pero pag nasobrahan pati top coat mo tanggal... use only little amounts and apply softly too much pressure on application sure na masisira paint mo..

Basta marunong ang mag ba-buff, NO. Hindi po sya nakaka fade. Unless manipis na ang top coat mo. After buffing e hindi mo sya pwede ipa top coat. Mag chi-chip din yun. Parang kaliskis ng isda. Before we apply Topcoat or paints sa car e nililiha muna para kumapit ang ia-apply natin. Hindi sya kakapit pag madulas na.
Dalawang klase ang pwede gamitin pag buff. Rubbing compound at Polishing Compound. Sa Rubbing Compound medyo malaki ang kain nya. Unlike sa Polishing Compound na talagang polish lang sya.
