Which would do the "lesser" damage to a vehicle's paint job - parking in the daytime under direct sunlight (which would fade the paint?) or parking at night exposed to cooler temperatures and some moisture (which would promote corrosion?)?

definitely parking at night. but either type of condition should pose no problem to a properly done, properly cared for and maintained, professional paint job.

    Ditto.

If your car's paint is going to be subjected to such abuse by the elements, make sure to make it undergo Paint Protection, or perhaps make more frequent visits to a reputable detailing shop.

My Mom's black Altis is constantly being abused by the elements as it's parked outside. Well, it's not like we did not suggest to park it in the shade. She didn't like the hassle of having to park it in the garage and have to take it out whenever she'd use it. At least outside, she avoids the hassle. But then, it's to the paint's detriment. Nothing a visit to Big Bert's can't correct, I suppose, but then since it probably won't be frequently brought to Big Bert's, coz the owner doesn't really care for the car much, then sayang ang initial treatment.

lesser will be at night. even if your car is properly waxed/sealed, the lifespan of the protection will be definitely shorter when exposed directly under the sun.
