on a related note, i've seen the Zinger! nice MPV. much better than the avanza, in my opinion.

if they came out with a low-end no-power version below 600k like the avanza, it would surely take market away from toyota (and.. any nascent PHUV, unfortunately..)

    This is off-topic already.

By the way, the more simpler & logical explanation for them to increase their business here is the unexpected increase in the sales volume of their bare-bones Urvan & Frontier units for the last year.

With all due respect sir, I believe hindi OT ito.

Anyway, the article points to one reality---that there is a market for the PHUV ( belatedly recognized by CAMPI). And with the way this thread is coming up with doable and impressive models, these foreign car manufacturers (ex. MAZDA, KIA) might have to pack there bags.

    Zinger? Hmmm. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi_Zinger
    This?

The concept sketches looked more impressive.

    Sayang I don't read chinese.

Market and industry analyses are not off topic in this PhUV design thread. Auto Designers need to have a constant awareness of the goings-on in the market and industry. I would allow jpdm to speak freely. His passionate bias towards OPV is RIGHT ON LINE with the very objectives of this forum, an advocacy forum for OPVs. Rebuttals are not unwelcome, of course.
In extreme cases, please let me know if editing is necessary. Check PM.

Tsikot PhUV is still in the drawing board(s) as of this writing.
This forum was created just two months ago. There have been many submissions as you know, and some which are worthy of consideration have gone to studio for further development, with rights reserved to Tsikot and the proponent(s). It's the only way to fast-track the process. Too many cooks spoil the broth kasi, di ba?
You see, it's a bit unconventional to have a vehicle designed by enthusiasts using the "opensource" approach via the internet. None of the enthusiast-proponents and contributors is full-time. What is common to all who post here is our passion for cars, for design, and for developing something that's OUR VERY OWN. I could be wrong, but this could be the only one of its kind on the web.

BTW, there's an emerging group of CG enthusiasts in the "Wanna design ..." thread who might be able to help you with your pet concept minicar. ogpro seems to like the idea of a small people carrier. Remember my standing recommendation -- if you still want to design one.

New thread by wildthing initiates a sportscar design project. http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39303

I see the resurrection of Nissan BIDA here.

Read between the lines, the use of more local parts, CKDs and the emergence of a PHUV vehicle segment will definitely expand the local auto market.

Eureka, a viable segment of the auto market.

Nagyari na ito nuong late 1980s, hinahanap ko nga yung article sa Inquirer (1989) sa biglang pag-boom ng AUV (a.k.a. today PHUV), di ko lang makita.

GO PHUV!

siguro as an option for those who want an added filipino feel to the vehicle. but as a standard configuration, i'd stay away from it. mas maganda pa rin na makagawa ng vehicle that meets international standards in safety and design.

that's an american concept car with japanese interior styling - international design. why dont we do it ourselves?
