nung nakita ko yung pinsan ng owner type jeep dito, yung miki moke, i said i wish i have one, malupit!

then when i saw how the mini moke evolved, i wished deep inside sana mag evolve din yung mga OTJ natin.

Daihatsu Mini Moke

another Mini Moke evolution (not sure of brand, austin ata)
good to know your not jap.

I like your insightful post...

the tanod chief in out barangay used to drive a mini moke for patrol in the 90's... everybody thought it looked ugly. Then, somebody I think traded a VW combi with him and he wasn't able to refuse the offer (my theory).

At any rate, the mini moke is a jeep in a sense that it is G.P. (General Purpose) i.e., gip - as in jip or jeep. Actually, it is more closely related to the Sakbayan (a.k.a. VW Country Buggy).

Cars that have a tub placed on the platform are normally called as buggy... in the olden days... Horse drawn cars are also called Horse drawn buggies (if they are not a close contraption).

and yes, the dune buggy is a more closer relative of the mini moke.

OTJ's are only related to it in the sense that OTJ's are also buggies under this classification... however, the platform is way - different.

Mokes are Front wheel drive - more closer to the Mini's.... and Sakbayans are simply Beetles in disguise. But an OTJ will remain unique in it's distinct category... no matter how hard we try to make an OTJ look like a car... people - once they see the flat fenders, grills, headlamps or even just the TUB and regardless of the suspension system... will never cease identifying them as owners or jeeps.

It's like a stigma. among... the closest relative or cousin of an OTJ for me is the RAV4. (wheelbase, riding height, configuration... it's really just a jeep with a glorified styled body and interiors.
