i am sure the 29km/l is base on highway driving with so many unrealistic factors included in the driving(aircon off, limit rpm[less than 2000rpm], etc).but i am sure the fuel consumption will still be very good considering it is a front wheel drive car and a diesel. i am sure you could get more than 12km/l easily on the new a4 diesel.

11 teams (2 from Audi) were formed to test the fuel consumption of the A4 2.0 TDI and the winning team got 29 km/L.
To save on fuel, the airconditioners were switched off most of the time.
Average speed was 81 km/h.
The route was from Basel in Switzerland to Vienna in Austria and back to Basel.
These test results might also be a bit missleading because it was done using the more economical 120PS 2.0 TDI, the model sold here is the stronger 143PS 2.0 TDI which consumes slightly more fuel.
Manufacturer's data:
120 PS 2.0 TDI 6-speed Manual (model that reached 29 Km/L)
City 42.2 mpg(UK) = 14.94 Km/L
Highway 68.9 mpg(UK) = 24.39 Km/L
Combined 55.4 mpg(UK) = 19.26 km/L
143 PS 2.0 TDI Multitronic(CVT) (model sold here)
City 36.2 mpg(UK) = 12.815 km/L
Highway 60.1 mpg(UK) = 21.276 Km/L
Combined 48.7 mpg(UK) = 17.24 km/L

but you can't blame PGA for pushing and coming up with the 29L/KM marketing campaign for the new audi4.

Its actually more like false advertising.
As far as I know, PGA doesn't even sell the 120 PS A4 2.0 TDI 6-speed MT model that got 29km/L. (at least when the ad came out)
Read my previous post above for the details.
The stronger 143 PS 2.0 TDi A4 Multitronic thats sold here is priced at P2.68M.Last edited by AG4; February 10th, 2009 at 12:54 PM.

March 26th, 2009 11:24 PM #38I personally got a chance of driving one of these babies to tagaytay and back for the weekend, specifically a brand new Audi A4Tdi (Quartz grey) hehe... its my friends.. i was really curious if this car could do 29km/l, NOP it cant.. BUT, driving all the way to tagaytay highlands and back to alabang, i got an average of 20km/l, not bad.. not 29km/l but damn... not bad at all.. and i wasnt driving like a granny, i was bussy fooling around with the multitronic 8gears hehe.. overtaking slow jeeps in sta rosa, and passing through heavy traffic in slex.. all i can say is, this car is by far more comfortable than a bmw 3 series, has more gadgets and equipment btw the interior at night makes the current honda civic look 10years old.. trust me.., hell you get your moneys worth as compared to the closest price range of bmw or mercedes.. Honest opinion, it feels like a 5series, but has the steering weight of a 3series, it does not handle like the damn wonderful e90 3series but for manila drive? i think its the best among its competitors... Honestly, the true potential and strenghts of a Bimmer is only felt when driving it HARD... (Most of the time when im Tipsy hehe) I think Audi did a preety good job with this current A4... Those Leds are ***ayyyyy :D just my opinion on this subject..
