Has been discussed before. Basically a bad idea to remove the thermostat. Takes longer to warm up so increases fuel consumption on cold starts. Risk of overheat at high revs because the coolant is traveling too fast through the radiator giving it no chance to vent its heat.

No. Ang laking bagay ng thermostat.

i have also checked the hard starting issue with the supposed to be thermostat problem and i quote
"Test the coolant temperature sensor. What happens is when these go bad, they either cause the car not to get enough fuel when cold to getting to much fuel when the car is hot."
Is the coolant temperature sensor the same as the thermostat? I think so.... If yes, could this hold logic na talagang thermostat and problem?

Nope. The thermostat is a valve with springs that opens and closes depending on the coolant temp. The coolant sensor is usually located near the thermostat housing but it could also be somewhere else on the block.
On cold starts the temp sensor signals the ECU to run a bit rich to aid starting. When the coolant temp increases it dials down the fuel accordingly.

Possible. The thermostat is easy to check. Just take it out and put it in boiling water. If it opens it's still ok. It should close when put in warm water. The sensor however requires an electrical test. A sensor for your engine might be available in the surplus shops.
Nga pala what do you mean when you said na pumutok ang housing ng thermostat? Kinalawang then hininang na lang?Last edited by JohnM; October 7th, 2013 at 02:21 PM.
