    hi all,
i just visited manila a few days ago and have found out the follwoing:
    1. that some airconditioning service and repair shops use the wrong
lubricant; polyol ester (POE) is used instead of polyalkyl glycol (PAG)
for 134a systems or retrofitted systems from R12 to R134a systems,
    2. some shops use aircondtioning compressor for vacuuming the project
car's system instead of a vacuum pump ( compressors do NOT pull
complete or near complete vacuum of 29.8 inches of mercury (inHg)
    3. that some shops use the same manifold gauges for R12 systems and
R 134a systems-causing cross contamination of refrigerant and
    lubricant
    4. that supposedly retrofitted systems are not fitted with the quick
    disconnect fittings for R134a systems
    5. that supposedly retrofitted systems are not using nitrile o-rings but
are using butyl or neoprene o-rings. nitrile o-rings are green
    6. that most shops if not all (haven't found one) use an electronic leak
detector and rely on soapy water and disasembling the system to find
    leaks.
    7. that most shops are irresponsible in disposing spent or recyclable
refrigerant and making it disperse into the atmosphere and reducing
our ozone layer causing more and more skin cancer victims.
we need to retrain, enforce and limit pollution at the shop level.

I think I don't have any issue in using PAG or POE oil as they are both compatible with R134a, what I'm concerned is the mixing of different kind of oil.

Ito yung mga shop na masabi lang na mayroon silang vacuum pump. Ask them why you should need to vacuum it at 29.8 inches of mercury and you will see a blank face.

Yes, because until now, they still do not understand what is the difference between R12 and R134a. What they only know is that they have different taste.

Ito ang problema, maraming maling pagtitipid, most of the shop owners will not want to spend Php 20,000 for a piece of equipment, puwede naman ang sabon 'o dishwashing detergent, bakit ka pa gagastos. And another thing is because of the predatory pricing going on sa maraming lugar, kasama na dito ang car aircon service. Kung minsan problema rin ang customer, they are always looking for cheaper price, what they do not know they also receive cheap workmanship.

Kung sa mga simpleng gamit ay wala sila, maisipan pa kaya nilang mag-invest sa mga recycling equipment at refrigerant identification?

Sana pagdating ng araw mag-mature na ang MVAC servicing dito sa Pinas.

personally you don't have an issue with mixing POE and PAG, but the international mobile air conditioning standards requires using PAG for R134a systems lest your compressor gets damaged

that's the reason why we need to reeducate them and require them to get at least a local training and certifications. why sell incompetence to the paying public?

they need to go back to school, learning is a lifetime process

there will always be cheap people but it is not a reason not to purchase proper equipment to make the job faster and more reliable

the philippine environmental agency should be knowledgeable about this and enforce the law. but good luck! with corruption, it might just get them richer

    sana nga, pagdating ng panahon
