Actually, R134a was mandatory in 1994 so you can see cars that have R12 for 1993 and older models, while 1995 and above usually already had R134a as standard. I have seen this myself since my wife's former 1993 Sentra had R12 while our 1995 Corolla had R134a.

R134a is a smaller molecule so if you want to have it converted, have all seals and O-rings replaced so that the smaller molecules will not escape as easily as R12. R12 has larger molecules so with the normal seals and O-rings it won't readily escape through leaks. Also, since R134a is a less dense substance, a higher pressure is required to run the AC system in a converted vehicle (usually cars 1993 and below) so you might expect a bit more fuel consumed through this. If the R134a is standard on the vehicle then you don't have to change fuel consumption figures to compensate for it.

i own a 97 nissan sentra lec. r12 pa rin sya.

sabi sakin ang kailangan for conversion is flush the freon & oil, change the drier, then load up with r134 coolant.

malaking tanong nga kung paano made-determine ng lto kung r12 or r134. ok lang siguro kung yung mga compliant lusot na. pano yung r12 na converted to r134?
