September 20th, 2007 11:03 AM #313.) Pag kumukulo ung reservoir, mabilis ding tumaas temp with or without aircon, plus me usok na puti sa tambutso, hard starting... for sure sa makina or cylinder head gasket ang problem.
I popped the hood at nakita kong kumukulo yung tubig sa reserve tank. I had it checked sa Frigid Zone, and the culprit was the aircon fan.
From 2005 until the time I sold it last month, walang naging problem sa engine ko or headgasket.

Thanks for some clarification.
I may add also, that those 3 times ako nag-overheat umaandar at o.k. yung radiator fan at aircon fan ko, that's why for sure it wasn't the fan who is the culprit that time. I'm talking about a '96 VTI here. maybe a different case with Sentra's too.
I may add an experience also regarding aircon fan. Wayback Nov. 2006, while driving at a speed of 20km/h, kasi me hinahanap kaming bahay in one of the barangays in our nearby town, biglang me umusok sa hood ko na parang pumutok pero din naman namatay makina ko. So what I did, tumabi ako and pinatay ko aircon at makina. Check ko hood and tinignan ko wala naman problem sa Rad or Wirings.
We went home, pero di nako nag-aircon (for assurance, pero not knowing na aircon pala talaga problem nung usok). then pina check ko mechanic ulit, after some testing napansin nya di umiikot ung fan ng aircon, so tinangal nya at tinignan namin, busted na yung motor ng aircon. So bumili ako surplus aircon fan, installed namin then o.k. na, while naka-on yung aircon, napansin namin di gaano lumalamig, then na-conclude nya na ung umusok sa hood is ung lumabas na freon, parang nag high pressure kasi nga di umiikot yung fan during nung time na ginamit ko ung car.
So I went to an aircon shop, pinalinis ko, pinalitan ng expansion valve at filter drier and lagay freon. buti na lang di nasira evaporator. Costs me 6k pati labor na.

November 19th, 2009 06:13 AM #35I don't think it has anything to do with the make of the car. I've seen toyotas being unreliable as well. In fact I doubt brand has anything to say anymore in the late 90's correk ka dyan. But today same price halos lahat. The price of the car is almost similar (2nd hands 90's). It relies heavily on the user. Misconception to think that a toyota car has cheaper spare parts and more reliablity. How many times na ako sumakay sa overheated na FX and palpak ung aircon. ehem. This goes for all brands.
Back to topic. Dude I'd say 90% it's your aircon compressor blowing out freon. This is also a cause for overheat. Once there is too much pressure build up in an A/C system the freon will need to go out. The pressure switch is useless in this situation because it only triggers when there is insufficient freon. In this case the freon goes out from the compressors "relief" valve. It could sound like a bang if it's a glass type. (Glass breaks and boom freon spreads out hence a white smoke but then aircon will not get cold anymore). Or you'll be hearing Brrrrrtt (spring type). A strong spring pushes agains a plate sealing the freon but if pressure exceeds it'll just push out the excess.
Overpressure makes everything hot.
-Condenser
-Compressor
Specially the condenser will affect your radiators temp hence you will see your temp overheating.

February 9th, 2010 09:47 AM #36guys, hope you can help me out regarding my 96 civic pero lxi 1/t.
last month, i replaced my transmission and had aircon high pressure problems.
hay, any suggestions on what to do next? thanks in advance sa mga magrereply!

how about the hose? nacheck na ba? and water pump, im assuming na napalitan na rin ito since change timing belt na. yun dalawa na lang hindi ko nakita pinalitan or nacheck sa oto eh.
