the other day, my corolla GLI '94 model started making a funny noise when the aircon clutch would engage. something like a worn out bearing at first. nag-progress yung noise to an alarming level. turns out, the bearing of the aircon compressor gave way and ate into the shaft daw. I had it repaired and below is the damage:

    shaft seal 700
    rotor bearing 650
    shaft bearing 250
    pressure plate 200
    compressor oil 200
    freon R134A 700
    labor 700
    TOTAL 3,200

are the prices/costs reasonable for the job that was done?

i would have spent a little more and bought a new or remanufactured compressor instead.

I guess it's reasonable. They overhauled my A/C, replaced everything so that everything was "new"...it cost us 8K...and with a 6month warranty. (we were most likely ripped off). Its been almost 1yr since we got it fixed..so far no major problems... just problems with the contact point..but that wasn't much of a big deal.

my A/C was overhauled already before and it lasted me a long while so i figured it's okay to overhaul. never thought of buying a surplus unit though. don't know how to choose one, to begin with. thanks for the comments.

of course, the best is to buy a brand new compressor. kaya lang parang it's not such a good idea for such an old car which i may end up selling sooner or later.

not bad for the expense pre,. parang brand new narin yan. basta experto dapat gumawa nyan, then you shouldn't have a problem earlier soon.

    good decision!

at least yan, since brand new ang bearings I think if I were you it will give me a better sense of security against malfunction since the bearings and seals are brand new unlike surplus parts na 'di mo alam ang history, worth lang...

sa Danknee. i normally bring my A/C repair jobs there. was just checking if its prices are still okay, kasi since i bring all my A/C jobs to them, wala rin akong point of comparison. based on the reactions here, mukhang generally okay naman yung prices. they provide the parts na rin or you can buy them yourself.

Is Cost of Repair of My A/C Reasonable?
