Efficiency and power guaranteed
The new Mazda BT-50 is available in two variants—a 2.5-litre or 3.0 litre 4-Cylinder model. Its 16 Valve CRDi engines produce 143 hp and 330 Nm torque and 156 hp and 380 Nm respectively, thus ensuring superb performance in any driving condition. With gasoline prices rising and the concern for the environment increasing over the years, the need to use alternative fuel sources continues to be explored. As the only Mazda vehicle that uses a diesel engine, Mazda realizes the need for its pick-up to be environmental-friendly and yet efficient as well. Mazda BT-50’s engine is B-5 capable, thus it can take in fuel that is a mixture of 5% biodiesel and 95% petroleum diesel making it efficient and “green”.
The Mazda-branded MZR-CD engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission that has sure shifting with smooth action and a light touch. The new Mazda BT-50 has two five-speed gearbox versions – a 2WD version and the 4WD transfer system that features smart, easy shift operation and exhibits superior performance making it ideal for commercial use or for more adventurous off-road applications.
Mazda BT-50 has a common rail direct injection that veers away with traditional pump injectors and instead utilizes an injector that sprays fuel directly and electronically past the glow plug into the combustion chamber. This system can be controlled independently free from the intervention of engine speed and load. Thus, it allows for more complete burning of the diesel fuel while gas emissions are reduced. Combining the MZR CRDi and the 5-speed manual transmission enables it to self-adapt to the road and the way the vehicle is being driven. In terms of steering, the rack-drive Electric Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system gives smooth, proper assistance for more responsive control.
The Mazda BT-50’s braking system is coupled with a four-wheel Antilock Braking System (ABS) and with Electronic Brake-Force distribution (EBD) on the 4×4 variant to boost confidence and peace of mind. It has a Triple-H body structure that provides improved collision resistance and disperses impact energy into the body frame.
Style and roughness combined
Embellished with Mazda’s trademark five-point grille and a new integrated front bumper, headlamps and fog lamps, it gives a feeling of roughness while it communicates strength and high quality. The chrome-plates lend a classier appearance and make the Mazda BT-50 a choice for every car enthusiast. As if to convey a firm yet stylish appearance, the side has agile lines accented by gallant fenders and large tires set on 16” alloy wheels. The new floor console now integrates storage box, cigarette lighter with removable ashtray and four cup holders in a single unit for a higher quality feel. For music lovers, there is a new audio system which is MP3-capable with Audio Level Control (ALC) that automatically adjusts the volume to match the speed of the pickup at any given moment and an auxiliary input jack to hook up your digital audio player.
Also onboard are sedan-like convenience features like power adjustable side mirrors, interior fuel cap cover opener, one-touch power windows, and power door lock/unlock controls from the driver’s seat.
