LTO Seeks Recall of ‘8’ Car Llates

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) appealed yesterday to the leadership of the House of Representatives to issue a recall order on all special plates that carry the number 8 without the name of the congressional district to which the plate was assigned.

LTO chief Alberto Suansing made the call as traffic law enforcement agencies intensified their campaign against the use of unauthorized and illegal plate numbers.

“We are just awaiting the go-signal of House Speaker Prospero Nograles so we can start the crackdown against the proliferation of the number 8 plates,” Suansing said. Read more

Car smugglers and car thieves, beware.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) and the Bureau of Customs (BOC) have adopted modern technology to counter the illegal activities of these criminal specialists.

Land Transportation chief Alberto Suansing said imported vehicles will only be registered by the LTO after an interconnectivity program, known as the Certificate of Payment Authentication and Verification System (CPAVS), validates that the owner has paid the necessary taxes and duties to the BOC.
