Isuzu Philippines used the recent Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) to demonstrate the many possible ways its vehicles can be tailored to the specific lifestyle needs of the market. Held end August 2008 at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, the PIMS was organized by the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) for just the second year. Isuzu believes that the motor show was the perfect venue to flaunt its line of concept vehicles that will suit the varied needs of the Filipino market.
“We want people to realize that Isuzu does not only make utilitarian commercial vehicles,” said IPC President Keiji Takeda. “What we manufacture is a means for individuals and families to achieve freedom on the open road, and to do so in a trendy manner—while still enjoying the benefits of fuel-efficiency, engine power, dependability and value for money.” Read more

Isuzu Launches New Eco-Friendly Turbo-Diesel Engine
July 1, 2008 by Tsikot · Leave a Comment
We have a vehicle-related crisis in our midst, and this crisis is two-fold. First, there’s the matter of environment protection. Vehicles today—especially those with large-displacement engines—are collectively being blamed for significantly polluting our air and subsequently helping to damage the world we live in. Second, and perhaps more relevant to Filipinos these days, is the issue of rising fuel prices. The past several weeks have seen fuel prices continuously shoot up, and there seems to be no signs of abating.
As a result, people are now increasingly turning to two-wheeled transportation. Not only are motorcycle engines much smaller (hence, less emissions), they are also more fuel-efficient (hence, more economical). Some observers say that if the four-wheeled mode of transport is to thrive in these times, carmakers need to provide engines that are both environment-friendly and easy on the gas tank. Read more

In these trying times when fuel prices are continuously soaring to all-time highs, the task of managing finances is no longer the sole responsibility of the dutiful mother but of every member of the family as well. Isuzu Philippines Corp. addresses this reality as it launches a five-month series of activities called the “Isuzu Family Challenge.” The campaign—which aims to emphasize Isuzu’s superiority in producing fuel-efficient diesel-powered vehicles—couldn’t have come at a better time as the market now clamors for a means of transport that is not heavy on fuel consumption.
Isuzu Still Dominates First Quarter Truck and Pickup Sales
June 2, 2008 by Tsikot · Leave a Comment
ISUZU Philippines Corp. has managed to successfully defend its throne as the leader in trucks and pickup sales during the first quarter of the year, according to official reports released by the Chamber of the Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA). Based on the figures, Isuzu trucks (F-Series and N-Series) and Global D-MAX pickup topped their respective categories in March and nowlead their classes for the January-March 2008 period.
The F-Series and the N-Series sold a combined total of 108 units for a leading market share of 77 percent and 66 percent, respectively. Isuzu light-duty trucks have dominated the segment for 11 consecutive years now. The Global D-MAX topped the pickup category by selling 287 units in March for a market share of 27 percent. The Global D-MAX was likewise the best-selling pickup in the market in February with sales of 258 units or a market share of 27 percent.
As a result, both Isuzu’s trucks and pickup now dominate the first-quarter sales total in their respective classes. From January to March, the F-Series and the N-Series have already sold a combined total of 267 units for an 86-percent and 67-percent market share, respectively, while the Global D-MAX has moved 741 units (26 percent) during the same period.
The news of Isuzu’s continued dominance comes as no surprise as the company has always been known to be the world-class producer of such excellent workhorses as the Crosswind AUV, the Alterra SUV, buses, Powertrain diesel engines and components, and the above-mentioned D-MAX pickup and F-Series and N-Series trucks. IPC has been a force to contend with in the Philippine commercial-vehicle segment for 11 years already.
“Our sales dominance in March and the first quarter of the year only confirms our strong position in the commercial-vehicle market,” said IPC President Keiji Takeda. “Nothing asserts an automaker’s status like the actual vote of confidence of satisfied consumers.”
Isuzu vehicles also dominated global markets last year. Based on actual sales figures compiled by Isuzu Motors Limited of Japan, the following Isuzu vehicles were tops in 2007: cab-over trucks in Japan (39 percent share); light-duty trucks (58 percent share) and heavy-duty buses (60 percent share) in Hong Kong; commercial vehicles in Malaysia (26 percent share) and Singapore (44 percent share); imported cab-over trucks in the United States (64 percent share); commercial vehicles in Australia (25 percent share), New Zealand (25 percent share) and Papua New Guinea (41 percent share); commercial vehicles in Iran (50 percent share), Ireland (34 percent share) and Israel (55 percent share); and pickups in Egypt (71 percent share).

Isuzu Launches Boondock Limited Edition of Global D-Max 4×4
March 26, 2008 by Tsikot · Leave a Comment
Proving that its expertise lies not just in diesel-engine technology but also in 4WD off-road motoring, Isuzu Philippines Corp. is introducing a special run of the popular Global D-MAX 4×4 called the Boondock Limited Edition (LE). This is in response to the growing demand for highly capable off-road vehicles especially in remote, unpaved areas in the country—places that are difficult to reach using the usual stock SUVs and pickups. This LE variant will be available initially in the Visayas and Mindanao since these parts of the archipelago have demanding types of terrain that require four-wheel-drive vehicles.
The Global D-MAX 4×4 has been steadily gaining popularity as being off-road-capable, thanks to the push-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive control button. With this pickup, it is possible to shift from 2WD to 4WD (4H only) while the vehicle is in motion—no need to stop and lock the front hubs or shift a gear lever. All that is required is a simple push of the dash-mounted 4WD button. ‘Convenience’ is something not previously associated with off-road driving, but the Global D-MAX 4×4 has rewritten the rules of the game.
