Independent oil player Unioil Petroleum Philippines Inc. Monday slashed the prices of its gasoline by a hefty P4.75 a liter, diesel by P3.50 a liter, and kerosene by P1.50 a liter—the biggest rollback yet this year.
Unioil general manager Chito Medina-Cue Jr. said the drastic drop was due to the continuous downward trend in world crude prices and the company’s commitment to sell high quality petroleum products at fair prices.
With the rollback, Unioil’s unleaded gasoline will retail at P35 a liter; its Quantum Premium gasoline at P35.44; regular unleaded, P34.66; Pure Diesel Plus (B1), P27.54; and kerosene, P38.44 a liter.
Medina-Cue said the company decided to bring back its “big-time rollback” strategy, which it started last year, to help the public weather the high prices of everything. Read more

Echoing the view of Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes, oil companies believed that the continuing drop in world oil prices would mean subsequent oil price rollbacks in the domestic front. Read more
Isuzu Launches New Eco-Friendly Turbo-Diesel Engine
July 1, 2008 by Tsikot · 4 Comments
We have a vehicle-related crisis in our midst, and this crisis is two-fold. First, there’s the matter of environment protection. Vehicles today—especially those with large-displacement engines—are collectively being blamed for significantly polluting our air and subsequently helping to damage the world we live in. Second, and perhaps more relevant to Filipinos these days, is the issue of rising fuel prices. The past several weeks have seen fuel prices continuously shoot up, and there seems to be no signs of abating.
As a result, people are now increasingly turning to two-wheeled transportation. Not only are motorcycle engines much smaller (hence, less emissions), they are also more fuel-efficient (hence, more economical). Some observers say that if the four-wheeled mode of transport is to thrive in these times, carmakers need to provide engines that are both environment-friendly and easy on the gas tank. Read more
DOE Warns Against Use of Dual Fuel System in Vehicles
June 27, 2008 by Tsikot · Leave a Comment
Energy Secretary Angelo T. Reyes has warned the transport sector on the ill-effects of the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) on an engine system that has not been yet properly tested.
Specifically, Reyes was referring to a dual fuel system which utilizes in-line blending of diesel (70 percent) and LPG (30 percent).
“The results of the tests made by the DOST (Department of Science and Technology) on this system have been proven to be very inconclusive,” Reyes said.
He pointed out that “LPG and diesel combination are not proven to be safe.” Read more
