Fontana Leisure Parks and Casino in cooperation with the San Miguel brewery, Inc presented the Fontana Auto Show, a Car, Motorbike and Concert Extravaganza last May 21 to 22, 2011 at the Fontana Avenue, Clark Field Pampanga.

The two-day event featured a car show, bike show, drift demo, sound-off competition, RC car drifting, on-the-spot photo contest, concert featuring firedancers, street dances and bikini fashion show.

Bimmerfest 2011 promises to be bigger and better than the previous year as it targets a record breaking 100 BMW automobiles on display in one big venue. And for the first time ever, the BMW Car Club of the Philippines hosts this event to include the BMW Owners Society of Saferiders (BOSS) the official BMW Motorrad Club in the Philippines and other BMW clubs/enthusiasts of the brand.

Thousands of people trooped to the World Trade Center for the first day of the Manila International Auto Show (MIAS) on Thursday (April 7).

The 7th edition of the show attracted over 30 global car brands, from the affordable ones to the more luxurious.

Event organizers said they also included upgraded green cars in this year’s expo.

“Since we are going for an eco-friendly, more sustainable future for the car industry, I think Chery is promoting its electric car. And some of the famous brands here as well will be presenting their hybrids. A few brands would be launching new models,” said Jon Richmond Ang, marketing director of Worldbex, organizer of MIAS.

This auto show is a veritable dreamland for car enthusiasts.

Many of the vehicles here were launched for the first time in the Philippines.

There are also icons such as the Mini, Maserati Gran Turismo, and a Porsche, similar to the model reportedly bought by President Benigno Aquino III.

Aside from commercial cars, a vehicle targeted for the military was also revealed.

Philippine Navy chief Rear Admiral Alexander Pama himself inspected the prototype amphibious vehicle which was proudly made by Filipinos.

“It looks nice and the best part of it is it’s Filipino-made. If in case it would fit the requirements of the Navy and if we would have the resources for it, I would like to have one of this,” said Pama.

Pama said that this kind of vehicle suits the country’s terrain, and added that the Navy is currently upgrading its fleet.

“We’re upgrading the Navy in general para no matter where it is required may kakayanan tayong pangalagaan ‘yung ang ating maritime resources be it in Spratlys, Sulu Sea, or wherever,” Pama said.

Renowned British driver Russ Swift, a 3-time Guinness World Record holder, also showed audiences his skill in driving, from drifting to precision driving.

The auto show will last until Sunday (April 10).

Hey, car lovers. Nothing to do this week? Why not drop by World Trade Center in Pasay City.

On April 7, 8, 9 and 10, the biggest local motoring event of the year will be staged with new models from a long line of car makers set to be introduced to the public.

Known as the Manila International Auto Show, the event will also feature side shows, including the highly successful BPI Family Savings Bank Auto Madness.

Other highlights of the four-day, highly-awaited car show are the Land Rover Terrapod Experience, the Russ Swift-Precision driving stunt show, Off-road and on-road test drives, Top Gear special exhibit, motorsports clinic and special demonstrations, MIAS downpayment raffle promo and the unveiling of the Philippine4-made CROPC fast amphibious truck.

Not only that, there will also be a classic and custom car competition, mobile media competition and car of the year awards exhibition.

To accommodate the big number of participants and visitors, organizers said the event will be held in a more spacious venue.

Annually staged at the World Trade Center, the venue has grown to 23,000 square meters, enough to accommodate the 28 auto and motorcycle brands taking part in the show that was launched in 2005.

This year, aside from the World Trade exhibition hall and lobby of 10,000M2 and the 3,000M2 East Wing annex building and some 6,000M2 of outdoor exhibit and stunt performance area. Organizers have added almost 4,000M2 of exhibition floor space of the Philippine Trade Training Center.

In all, the total outdoor and indoor exhibition floor area is 23,000M2, making the event the biggest annual motoring event in the country today.

To a lot of people, one of the biggest come-ons is the BPI Family Auto Madness, which has come a long way since it was launched in Cebu City 13 years ago.

Coming from a meek gathering of 16 cars on display in 1998, the Auto Madness continues to enjoy tremendous success year on eyar.

This year, as BPI celebrates its 160th year leading in the financial and banking industry, it stays true to its promise of innovation and leadership as it takes the level of ‘Madness’ several notches higher.

This year’s ‘Madness’ will see the continuation of the free GPS promot to complement brand new cars that will be financed by BPI Family Auto Loan for personal use with a minimum amount financed of P700,000 and loan term of 36 months.

The free GPS Promo is also available at all participating dealers nationwide.

During the grand motoring event, BPI personnel will be onside at the BPI Auto Madness booth to give on the spot approval once car buyers find the vehicle that catches their eye.

It has been considered as “one of the biggest and widest displays of 2008 models ever assembled in one venue” – there for the motoring public to see and test drive. The 2008 “AUTO FOCUS MOTORSHOW & AUTO EXPO” begins today at the Bonifacio Global City grounds and will last until December 1, and it promises to feature more models than ever before.

This will be the 4th annual staging of this major motoring industry event organized by Sunshine Television Production & Marketing Services Corp. (STV), and as “Auto Focus” and “Motoring Today” TV host and STV Chairman and CEO Ray Butch Gamboa announced, “This year’s motorshow will have even greater participation by most of the popular brands like Audi, Chery, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Isuzu, Jeep, Kia, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volvo. A wide choice of these models will be available for test drives. Indeed, this week-long assemblage of such a varied and comprehensive range of competing makes/models in a single venue has always been a “must go” event for car enthusiasts and buyers. To them, it is a veritable “one-stop shop” that provides welcome and convenient relief from the ordeal of hopping from one dealer showroom to another in search of the model or offer of their choice. And, with November being a peak buying month, BPI Family Savings Bank will be at the venue with special financing offers for visitors who are looking for a model to buy!”

“What’s more,” Gamboa added, “there will be a host of other special activities on tap during the exhibition.” The public can enjoy the 7-day “Music at the Motorshow” series of daily performances at the Central Entertainment Area of the motorshow grounds where some of the country’s leading adult music bands like Route 70, Shift, Highway 54, Flintstones and the Gang, Take Note and other top bands are scheduled to perform along with a chorale group slated to regale visitors with a special Christmas repertoire.

There will also be a Gymkhana Precision Driving Competition, a non-racing motorsports event that will be a test of driving skill and safety awareness over a defined on-site course which any certified license driver can join. Participants can compete for only a nominal registration fee and perhaps drive away with a trophy and other prizes.

The “AUTO FOCUS MOTORSHOW & AUTO EXPO” will also be the last opportunity for the voting public to view up close and even test drive most of the models participating in the “PETRON 2008 AUTO FOCUS PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS”. This is the ongoing 9-month nationwide public poll to determine the country’s most popular automobile makes and models. The poll, conducted on the Auto Focus website (www. autofocus.com.ph) and on-site during select legs of the BPI Family Savings Bank “Auto Madness” motorshows, will culminate November 30 with the much-coveted people’s choice for “Automobile of the Year” as well as “Model of the Year” awards in 12 categories still being contested. Gerry Aquino, Chairman of the Awards Committee explained that “there will also be public voting centers set-up at the Bonifacio motorshow for visitors to participate in this poll.”

In closing, Gamboa said, “The Auto Focus Motorshow & Auto Expo is one grand display and test drive the automobile industry is certainly looking forward to for the benefit of the car enthusiasts and potential car owners who historically have gone on a buying frenzy during the prelude to the Christmas Season.”
