Russ Swift to be Back at MIAS 2009; Subaru to Unveil New Impreza
Doughnuts. Parallel parking. Two-wheel maneuver. All these and more daredevil stunts world-famous precision driver Russ Swift will perform using the new Subaru Impreza at the Manila International Auto Show scheduled early April 2009.
Motor Image Pilipinas, the exclusive distributor of Subaru, is bringing back Swift to treat all car enthusiasts to a thrilling exhibit at the auto show scheduled on April 2-5 at the World Trade Center. Motor Image will also be unveiling the new Impreza Sedan WRX 2.5 Turbo and 2.0 models during the event.
Swift will be back to perform his trademark daredevil moves using the new Impreza Sedan and will try to set a new world record in “doughnuts” with the Impreza WRX STI. Swift currently holds an unbeaten Guinness World Record for parallel parking and was a two-time British Autofest champion and England’s Autotest team captain in 1982 and 1983. In 2004, he set a Guinness World Record for making 10 complete spins or “doughnuts” in just 16.07 seconds, a mere 1.6 seconds for each complete spin.
The introduction of the new Subaru Impreza WRX Sedan will highlight the opening of the motor show. Motor Image Group chief executive Glenn Tan will be on hand to unveil to the public the sedan version of the Subaru sports car. “We can hardly wait to finally reveal the all-new WRX Sedan to the Philippine market,” Tan said in a press statement. “The all-new Impreza WRX Sedan represents the highest level of what makes a Subaru, a Subaru,” Tan said. “It retains the hallmarks of its legendary character such as 2.5 turbo power plant and symmetrical all-wheel drive system but now made even better with a host of new cutting edge features.” Apart from the WRX, Motor Image will also be unveiling the 2.0 liter, normally aspirated sedan version of the Impreza.
The complete Subaru model lineup will also be on display at the Motor Image booth in MIAS. Special financing packages and cash discounts will be available to buyers during the four-day event courtesy of Banco de Oro and BPI Family Savings Bank. Original Subaru merchandise and accessories will be on sale to the public. Adding allure to the Motor Image booth will be the famous Subaru girls who will be around to assist all visitors to the exhibit. Subaru Club of the Philippines will be showcasing their rides the whole day of Saturday, April 4.
