Riding in Cars with Toys

yesterday morning, I met an old classmate friend who is now an executive of a staff building company.

he invited me to lunch and offered his ride to go to the resto. He drives a 3-month old Toyota Fortuner.

I was so marvelled with what I saw inside his car. he has 3 goosenecks: 1 for his Zune Player, 1 for his handsfree cellphone and 1 for his Windows-based PDA. he also has this customized movable platform where he can place his compact laptop on it. too bad the laptop was in the bag or else, it would have been a very nice gadget family picture just infront of the dash

while cruising, I asked, which of the 3 gadgets, the music is coming from. he said he has a 12-disc changer at the back

in front of me is a flip top 7" inch lcd tv (or whatever it is called). it looks like it has been taped into the dash on all 4 corners with a 3M double-sided tape. and so I excitingly commented: "wow, hi-tech! magkano score mo dito?" mukang mahilig sa movies wife mo ah". he said it's not for dvd. it's an external monitor for his laptop. turns out, he uses it for his presentations whenever a client is on the passenger seat. makes sense

and so we reached the parking lot of the resto. we disembarked and he opened the back to get his things. I got to take a peek at the back passengers seats… and alas, I discovered two monitors inside the 2 front headrests.

let me guess, I said: these 2 are also connected to your laptop no? in case you have more client passengers at the back.

no, he replied: "para sa dalawang anak ko yan, pag dinadala nila playstation and dvd player nila.
