Mitsubishi Motors Philippines unveils officially the 2009 Montero Sport 4×4 as an additional model to reinforce its current SUV line up. Mitsubishi’s strong heritage in sports utility vehicles (SUVs) plus the experience it learns from the grueling Dakar rallies are testimonies that the Montero Sport is one remarkable SUV.
The Montero Sport’s urban styling is a sharp departure from the boxy styling of conventional 4x4s. Its muscular presence and high-ground clearance projects an image of rugged durability, yet the sleek profile hints at its passenger-car like performance. Though large in dimensions, it still offers nimble handling and parking maneuverability.This Japan-built SUV has a strong front end and burly image, deriving its rightful heritage from the bigger Pajero. Multi-reflector halogen headlamps and fog lamps offer excellent illumination while the vertically slanting grill with chrome accent reinforces its sophisticated urban look.
The low floor height and cabin increases practicality, which delivers passenger-car like driving posture and access. And at the same time, this lower stance also promises stability. The crisp lines, bulging curves and low overall height create a unique functional design that looks striking whether parked in your garage, cruising the city, or carving the twisty back roads.
From the genuine leather seats to the intelligently laid-out switches and controls, the interior of the 2009 Montero Sport 4×4 exudes luxurious comfort from an SUV. Seats can be configured variably to accommodate most hauling requirements.
For hi-fi entertainment, the Montero Sport has Mitsubishi Motors Audio Design that can play MP3s, CDs, USB-ready plus a Bluetooth devise pairing for hands-free function complemented with six speakers.
The Montero Sport’s heart is the 4M413200 cc turbocharged 3.2L Common Rail Intercooled Turbocharged DI-D diesel engine, which has a maximum output of 163PS at 3,500 revolutions per minute (rpm) and torque of 343N-m at 2,000 rpm.
Aside from being durable and dependable, this engine has been noted to be quiet, responsive and economical. Its transmission boasts a powerful INVECS-II 4-Speed A/T with Sportronic Mode.
The smooth car-like ride of the Montero Sport can be credited to its front double wishbones sprung by torsion bars and the rear’s 3-link suspension on coil springs. Both ends of the Montero Sport are fitted with stabilizer bars to reduce body roll during cornering.
Anchoring this SUV to a quick stop are Vacuum Brake Booster at the front and 16″ Ventilated Dis. Braking action is always checked by its Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) which works in tandem with the Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) that regulates brake bias in the front and rear as load changes.
The Montero Sport’s body was designed and built to assure a high level of safety in the event of a collision. Passive safety items include the leading and trailing areas of the ladder frame chassis that are designed to crush progressively to absorb collision impact.
Front occupants reduce the risk of being injured in a collision thanks to its dual SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) Dual Stage airbags and 3-point ELR with Pretensioner, Force Limiter and Adjustable Anchor seatbelts. The second row is equipped with 3P ELR X2 Seatbelt and 2P Lapbelt while 3rd Row is armed with a 3P ELR x2 type.
The 2009 Montero Sport 4×4 comes in two variants: Montero Sport 3.2 DSL 4X4 GLS and Montero Sport 3.2 DSL 4X4 GLS SE.

my montero 4×4 is now two months old. i didn’t had the time to check all the features because of the nature of my work(a seaman). but i know the internal features, especially the engine. as my wife drove it home, and being seven months pregnant, she said it was a very smooth 8 kilometers drive. no more comments. its worth every cent!

I got my Montero last Sept. and was at first satisfied of the comfort but last Jan ( 4 months after purchased) I brought the Montero in Citimotors service due to malfunction of the air-conditioning unit and told that they have to change the vaporizer, after three days I was told that the headlight assembly got burned, after two weeks of repair they finally told me that the unit is all in good condition, but to my surprised, while am driving home the Montero the air-conditioning unit started to leak inside…so what can I do but to bring back the Montero to the service shop…..
Am really very very disappointed……… -

Hi can someone please help me? I recently bought a 2009 montero sport 4×4 manual. It’s a very good ride, nice interiors, superior suspension, efficient fuel consumption and good enough power. However, i noticed ( and it’s not just me, this includes my brother, father and wife ) that if I was running at high speeds and on the fifth gear then suddenly had to slow down to take a turn and would shift to a lower gear, the engine would stop. I noticed that this happens only when i step on the clutch and shifts gears. But, say for example, I ran the vehicle at very slow speeds even for the third or fourth gear, di sya namamatay, sinubukan ko lang to. pero kapag mabilis ka at biglang preno sabay apak ng clutch para lipat ng gear tsaka sya namamatay. tinanong ko na ‘to sa dealer kaso sabi nila, baka mali lang yung timing ko sa clutch. eh tagal tagal ko ng nag da drive tsaka di lang saking nangyayari to. Please help….

i hope you can deliver our orders really really fast here in tagbilaran`coz we need to have it as soon as possible…i just spoke with one of the Mitsubishi staff and i was told that the maximum wait is like 2 months….boy, that’s a long wait. going through the comments here, i’ve learned that there are two of us here in tagbilaran waiting for the white montero…the staff at mitsubishi told me that there are a total of 10 people branchwide ordering the white montero. branchwide includes tacloban, dumaguete and etc….grrrrrrrrrr! hope you can expidite the delivery of our orders `coz the long wait is aggravating my insomnia…i can’t sleep anymore `coz i am just soooooooooo excited. i could kiss the manager here in tagbilaran if he can have it delivered to us when i wake up tomorrow morning…=)

i think mas maganda namn ang fortuner kaysa sa montero dahil sa mga nakuha kong information mas mabilis ang takbo ng fortuner sa montero at mas maganda ang pagkakagawa sa makina ng fortuner. Pero ang da best sa lahat ng sasakyan na nakita ko ay ang Ferrary cars sobrang bilis at sobrang ganda ng performance la na talaga makakatalo sa Ferrary cars kahit ano pang sasakyan jan.

First of, it is not “FerrarY” …and tama ay FERRARI. Paano mo nalaman na “da best” ang “FerrarY” kung hindi kan drive o kahit nakasakay man lang? Iyan ang problema sa karamihan sa pinoy…puro yabang wala namang ibubuga. I believe comment should be confined to Montero Sport and related vehicles so that readers can benefit from it.I am planning to get my Montero Sport 4×2 this week. Kung ano na lang ang available sa showroom, other than red, ay OK na.

i have 2009 montero sport 4×4, bought last feb 2009, at first all goes well, after abt. 5 months i noticed that the electronic compass is not showing correct, i reported to mitsubishi service center, 7 months have past still no result from them, how to rectify or replace the electronic compass.
so try to check your instrumentation.
anyhow, montero sport performance is superb. -

when i saw the Monterosport 4×2 i thought i would be amaze but suddenly when i open it… i was discourage coz i expected that the interior design from 4×4 it would be the same to 4×2 especially the dashboard and the aircon controls and the seats. unlike the fortuner 4×2 and 4×4 mostly the same,excluding the transmission and the automatic seats…please MMC make the MONTEROSPORT 4X2 as like 4×4 coz u know what, here in the Philippines we really don’t need 4×4 suv. also people like us who live in country side we really don’t need AT coz AT its only good for big cities. We need MT monterosport 4×2…hope you guys, can get my point.

One of the dealer of mitsubishi said was the 2011 montero sport 4×4 2.5 A/T VGT Dsl it will be in the market this coming march. Can anyone pls help me. Which one should i buy? Advance thank you.
