Based on the data, the industry sold 2.43 percent less at 71,506 units from 73,290 units the same period last year.
Buyers got 3.78 percent less of commercial vehicles at 46,254 units than 48,072 units the same period last year. Sales of passenger cars were flat at 25,252 units from 25,218 units.
Around 34.32 percent of the vehicles were bought from Toyota Motor Philippines at 24,546 units, down 7.07 percent year-on-year from 26,414 units.
Its locally assembled compact sedan Vios was the best-selling model with 6,417 units followed by the multi-purpose Innova with 5,590 units.
Following Toyota was Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corp., which sold 50 percent more at 12,959 units than 8,635 units.
Honda Cars Philippines generated 32.71 percent more sales at 10,191 units. Its compact sedan, City, was the third top selling model with 5,166 units sold.
Month-on-month, total car sales went up by 6.32 percent in July with 11,597 units from 10,908 units.
CAMPI president Elizabeth Lee said car buyers prefer affordability and flexibility since they want vehicles that can be used for business and personal use.
