Honda Philippines Launches Civic 2009
May 27, 2009 by Tsikot
Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) announces the debut of the 2009 Civic in a closed circuit layout at the Subic International Raceway. The revitalized Civic comes in a complete package that stays true to its winning heritage – sheer power, class leading features and bold styling. Packed with thrilling technologies that are encased in a more aggressive styling, the new Civic is designed to deliver pure intensity in one’s entire driving experience.
The 2009 Civic sports a refreshed exterior styling that creates a more dynamic and aggressive look. Newly designed front bumper and mesh-type grille give its front-end appearance more assertive than ever. Spicing up the rear-end are the new rear combination lights design that blends perfectly with the Civic’s over-all sporty character. Meanwhile, the 2.0-liter variant comes with smoked, HID headlights and 17” multi-spoke alloy wheels for an even sharper look.
Raising the bar in the field of excellence, Honda stirs up the industry by constantly offering products that answer the dynamic needs of the market. The new Civic now carries the improved paddle shift technology in its 1.8 S AT variant. Originally introduced in the 2-liter variant, this fun-to-use, race-inspired paddle shift technology enables manual shifting of gears without the clutch. Conveniently located behind the steering wheel, the paddle shift option delivers superb driving pleasure of a manual transmission right at your fingertips. It enables safe shifting of gears while your hands are planted on the steering wheel.
To keep up with the new Civic’s bold styling and sporty paddle shift technology, it maintains its original advantages such as advanced engine setting and remarkable driving performance through the i-VTEC engine, 5-speed automatic transmission and McPherson for front and Double Wishbone for rear suspension. The i-VTEC engine technology has earned distinction in providing high torque, high power output, low fuel consumption and cleaner emissions that pass EURO 4 levels even if Philippine regulations only mandate EURO 2 compliance. The Civic remains to be the most powerful in its class with maximum power output of 140 ps at 6300 rpm for the 1.8 variant and 155 ps at 6000 rpm for the 2.0 liter variant. To further enhance fuel efficiency, it still comes with class-leading 5-speed automatic transmission to reduce engine revolution and stress.
The Civic continues to provide an expansive interior space with its extensive wheelbase. Just like any other Honda model, the Civic follows the principle, “Man-Maximum, Machine-Minimum” to provide a pleasurable driving comfort. To complement its comfortable interior, the new Civic is upgraded with USB audio interface for direct connection to digital audio players and other USB devices that contain MP3, WMA or AAC music files. Its top of the line variant also comes with leather seats for a classy touch.
“From the moment the Civic was created in 1972, the Civic has become a successful global car that embodies Honda’s challenging spirit. The eight generations of the Civic are reflective of how it has shaped the motoring industry here and abroad. With the entry of the 2009 Civic, we create new values that we hope will excite the market. The Civic’s continuous advancements are designed to set new standards in its class.“ said Mr. Hiroshi Shimizu, President and General Manager of Honda Cars Philippines, Inc.

Does the facelifted 1.8L Civic, V and S model has new alloy wheels? Thanks!
Hi. I just want to ask why you put HID lights on your civics when they only have reflector type headlamps and not the HID-appropriate HID types? Are they DOT approved?
Rgrds,
Jay
i was about to buy civic v lasy may but then new pricelist came last may 26..too bad there's no M/T for new civic..instead I opted for another brand..
meron bang may alam ng nagpapalit ng transmission? gusto kong palitan ng 6gear ung A/T civic 1.8s ko... tnx
why is it in other contries the civics is already in twin pipe? like malaysia... why here in the phils there is no option for a stock civic to have that kind of stuff... i think it will sell much better if the specification and technology release will be standard to all countries... in malaysia they offer type R, while here its just so simple and no bit for buyers like me... that why more people are now prefer importing car instead of buy to dealers... i hope get my point here... thanks!
when i inquired at honda pasig, they said that the honda civic 1.8S carbon bronze is available. our company already posted a PO for the car since July. every time i follow up with their agent he would always say that the car would be delivered within the week. its already the end of august and recently they again promised to deliver by september. i do hope liars go to hell.
