Tsikot is Finally Moving Up to New Upgraded Servers

We apologize for the sudden downtime of the Tsikot Forums, Car Finder and Gallery.

We are finally transferring the whole site to new and upgraded servers. However this is being done in phases to avoid an inordinately long downtime — beginning with the physical transfer of the files and databases, optimization and load balancing systems.

The complete transfer will be finished in several days but the different components of the community will be online one after the other in several hours or so.

Please don’t expect a marked improvement in the page loading and site speeds in the immediate future. This will be a very long process. But when after everything is completed, you can expect a much better (and faster) Tsikot Experience.

For the meantime, you can visit the Tsikot Temporary Tambayan over at our sister site at Gadgets Talk Philippines. Everyone is enjoined to sign-up using their same nick in tsikot and participate in the discussion threads of Gadgeteer-Tsikoteer members.

The downtime period is indefinite and might take longer than expected.

Tsikot.com To Mark 6th Anniversary with Grand Car Show-EB-Party Event

To celebrate its 6th anniversary of existence, Tsikot.com in cooperation with Decal Republic, a firm specializing in staging special events, is presenting a grand autoshow-eyeball-street party event entitled “Autoberfest ‘08” on October 25, 2008, Saturday, at the Hobbies of Asia, Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City.

The event is to mark another milestone in the history of Tsikot.com, the biggest and fastest growing online community of Filipino car lovers in the country and worldwide, now with over 55,000 members. “Autoberfest 08”, one of the most anticipated automotive events of the year with over 200 car entries from not less than 80 car clubs, car organizations and auto-related shops within Metro Manila and beyond, will eventually become an annual event of the community. Tsikot Tagaytay Outreach Program and Funrun May 10

Tsikot.com is inviting everyone to join its OutReach Program and FunRun 2008 event this May 10 for the benefit of the “Little Angels Home, Inc”, a safe haven for abandoned babies and children.

Located at Silang Junction, North Tagaytay City, Little Angels Home, Inc. (LAHI) is accredited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and development and currently houses up to 24 children from newborns to 10 years old. The center takes care of these children until they are well and fit for adoption through the DSWD. The children are in need of supplies for their basic necessities like food, milk, clothing, elementary school supplies and the like. The center is headed by its directress, SOR Mary Pauline of the Handmaids of the Risen Christ.

The activity will start at several rendezvous points for Tsikoteers to meet and form their convoys to Tagaytay City with picture-taking, eating and fellowship along the way. Lunch will be in Tagaytay. Afterwards, everybody will proceed to LAHI where the kids will be fetched and brought to Picnic Grove for a short program. A special treat of entertainment, games, food and surprises will delight the children.

Tsikot.com extended its community beyond cyberspace by setting up booth at the recently concluded 4th Manila International Auto Show last April 3 to 6 at the World Trade Center. Being a media partner of the event, tsikot.com was given its first chance to foray into the world of auto shows, bringing its visibility off the web and into the real world, beyond mere EBs and short events.

Though it was hard work to literally set up and keep shop for four whole days, it was well worth the effort, time and expense. In a way, we had an extension of the ’sense of community’ for old and new members alike by giving them a home in the premises of the cavernous WTC — where they were able to meet other ‘tsikoteers’, take photos with Ms. Tsikot, buy certain merchandise or win some at the Tsikot.com Auto Quiz Show.

They say that a picture speaks a thousand words (as the cliche goes), so let the following photos speak a million more!

A Tsikoteer’s Account: Tsikot Autofest - A Success

My wife and I were able to attend the Tsikot.com AutoFest last night at the Gate Arcade, along Ortigas Avenue in Taytay, Rizal. About 14 fully dressed up, stunning, and head turners cars participated in the car show, which started from 9:00 A.M. I drooled watching these gorgeous cars and amazed at the owners for their passions of tinkering and modifying their cars.

At about 5 PM, Tsikoteers and guests started to arrive for the Grand EB and Bikini Show. But, I suspected that most of them were there not for the GEB but for the bikini show. Ha ha ha . . . Unfortunately, I was very sleepy and couldn’t wait for these bikini clad ladies and gone home at 9:30 P.M. I didn’t think these bikini babes could wake me up with their show. Even I missed the bikini babes, I enjoyed my stay watching the car shows, meeting some tsikoteers, and drinking free beers.
