The Subaru Club Philippines (SCP) held its first grand eyeball event highlighted with a parade of their Subarus right in the middle of Ayala Center last February 1 during the peak of the shopping and rush hours. Various generations of the Impreza WRX, STI and Forester were at their carshow-best parked at the Tent in Glorietta 3 while their owners party with their fellow Subaru enthusiasts. The SCP is an organized group of Subaru customers and enthusiasts and is officially recognized by Motor Image, the exclusive distributor of Subaru in Southeast Asia.
Shoppers were treated to a display of various models of Subaru cars that were paraded by their owners who were meeting their fellow enthusiasts as part of the club’s regular activities. This is the first time that a private car club has held a meet in Glorietta 3. The event was organized by the SCP led by its chairman Erich Lingad and club president Clifford Certeza. Lingad and Certeza spearheaded the formation of the SCP leading to its inauguration last year. A Subaru Forester owner, Lingad is the manager and co-owner of International Consolidator Philippines Inc. and Adidas Eastwood and Adidas Sta. Lucia. A mountain bike and golf enthusiast, Lingad exemplifies the dynamic lifestyle of a typical Subaru customer who enjoys the outdoors together with his Forester. Certeza, on the other hand, is a self-confessed adrenalin junkie who delves into the world of speed with his arsenal of machines – a scooter, a jetski, a personal plane and his Subaru Impreza WRX STI. When not wearing his hats as the chairman of the Certeza Group of Companies and as a certified technical diving instructor, he is the moderator and also the founder of the official club website, subaruclub.ph, which went online months before SCP’s inauguration. The website has since become the club’s source of information and forum for communication. Certerza explained that the club is more than just about cars. "More than just a venue for sharing information on anything about Subaru, we also aim to foster fun and friendly relationships among members and their families," he added. The general manager of Motor Image Nicky Mariano explained the reason for their support to SCP. "We are very happy to see these proud Subaru owners and we believe they best represent what our brand stands for," he said. "We recognize our customers as our brand ambassadors that will carry Subaru to a greater reach of the market." All Subaru owners are qualified to join the SCP. Members get invitations to exclusive club activities such as eyeball events, roadtrips, track days and family events. Motor Image will also be extending special discounts for parts and accessories to the club. Members will also get special discounts from selected bars, restaurants and shops affiliated with the club.
