 Motor Image Pilipinas (MIP), the exclusive distributor of Subaru automobiles, treated all Subaru fanatics to a thrilling exhibit at the Manila International Auto Show held last April 3 to 6 at the World Trade Center. The event marked the official introduction of the 2008 Impreza WRX STI to the Philippine market. MIP also showcased a prototype of the Impreza Group N rally car that would be available for race enthusiasts to purchase. World renowned precision driver Russ Swift made a return and showcased his daredevil moves, this time using the new Subaru Impreza line up. The Manila International Auto Show turned blue once again with the host of Subaru activities and surprises that were lined up for both Subaru fans and public alike.
The much awaited introduction of the all new Subaru Impreza WRX STI finally happened at opening of the MIAS. No less than the Group Chief Executive of Motor Image Enterprises, Glenn Tan, was on hand and personally unveiled to the public Subaru's third generation model of its legendary sports car. "We can hardly wait to finally reveal the all new WRX STI to the Philippine market" Tan said. "The all new STI represents the highest level of what makes a Subaru, a Subaru. It retains the hallmarks of its legendary character such as 2.5 turbo power plant and symmetrical all wheel drive system but now made even better with a host of new cutting edge features", he added. Motor Image also announced the availability of a Group N-spec Impreza to the Philippines for the first time. With the support from its racing division Subaru Technica International (STI), the Impreza Group N-spec is built in the state-of-the-art Subaru Hub in Singapore and comes with modifications and requirements in compliance with the regulations of the Federation International de l' Automobile's (FIA). Motor Image also used the same Group N car in the 2007 Asia Pacific Rally Championship where it won both the Manufacturers and Driver's Titles. Precision driver Russ Swift thrilled Manila anew as he performed his trademark daredevil moves with the new Subaru Impreza for the first time. Everybody was in awe as the new Impreza handled very well Russ' famous moves such as the parallel parking maneuver, two-wheel driving and the "dance" routine. Russ also tried to set a new world record in donuts using the all new Impreza WRX STI. Russ Swift holds three Guinness world records: Parallel parking in the tightest space, J Turn in the tightest space and the fastest donuts.  The complete Subaru model line-up were on display at the Motor Image booth in MIAS. Special financing packages and cash discounts were made available to buyers during the four-day event. Adding allure to Subaru’s impressive showcase of a pavilion were the famous Subaru girls who assisted all visitors to the exhibit.
