    Hi,

Can you please send me a price quotation for a '94 Toyota MR2 (2 Door - Manual Transmission - 2L) comprehensive insurance plan? I found out about your company through tsikot.com that says 10% discount and I also saw this ad at sulit.com which says 40% discount.

    Please advise.

    I appreciate your help.

wow, finally! i still do expect the one time big rollback. napakalking ginhawa, sna bumaba pa, as expected, oil price have been up for so long that it has nowhere to go but down.. and fast!

  8. Tsikot on August 15th, 2008 9:44 pm

now it's down to around 111$ a barrel. hopefully the trend continues and will be reflected at the local pump's prices.

    see news from msnbc:

    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12400801/

NEW YORK - Oil fell to its lowest price in three months Friday, briefly touching the $111 level after the dollar muscled higher and OPEC predicted the world’s thirst for fuel next year will fall to its lowest point since 2002.

Light, sweet crude for September delivery fell $1.24 to settle at $113.77 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange after falling to $111.34, its lowest price since May 2 and more than $35 — or 24 percent — below its July 11 trading record above $147.

As high energy costs force countries around the globe to cut back on consumption, crude prices have plummeted and are now within striking distance of $100 a barrel, a level first reached Feb. 19.

    Elizabeth Lee:
I was elated and at the same time wondering for the article
in the abs-cbn news citing OFW's as part key-player to the automobile business in the Phillipines. Partly because we, OFW's are often ostracised if not looked down on acquiring small comforts in life such as vehicle possession. Banks and Car Financing firms decline applications for car/used car loans most often than not. Show -money-first and full scrutiny of financial capabilities which usually takes eternity then rejection. Also because banks and financing firms take part in the interests dilema that suffocates medium-earning OFWs to death.
If phillipine pawnshops could drop interests to compete with the market, why can you not?
You were partially right on the mentioned recent rise in car sales. Most of my brother-in-arms here in Macao really dare buying handsome ,brand new cars to reward themselves for their jobs well done. Scores of Sta Fe's and starex's can be noticed.
As unsung heroes of today, I do hope you will initiate a handsome , reasonable deal for us OFW's. How about a lower price for my burger? like the one you give to Senior citizens? We will be more than grateful for that. And I assure you, more wheels will roll.

    More power and thank you.

I wish that Hybrid vehicles can be brought to the Philippines. As a filipino Civic Hybrid Owner here in the states, I was too hesitant to buy a Hybrid before. Distances here in the states is far more longer than there in the Philippines. In a full tank, It gets me 600 miles. Mga 1000+ kms in one full tank there in the Philippines. Ako po mismo ang nagsasabi sa inyo, AKO PO AY 2003 HONDA CIVIC HYBRID with 100,000 NA ANG MILAGE NG KOTSE KO, WALA AKONG NAKIKITANG DIPERENSIYA SA HYBRID BATTERY< IT CAN STILL MANAGE TO HAVE 45 MPG

I am in the market for an SUV and originally thought of buying a Fortuner; but after checking out the features and specs of a display unit of a Montero Sport GLS SE, immediately reserved for one; it has the features that I was looking for but did not find in the Fortuner: such as the super select mode from 4wd to 2wd and vice versa on the fly and a sportronic transmission, and a fresher body design. The Fortuner's body design despite the very recent face lift is already boring.

Although the Fortuner, being a Toyota product, is reputedly of very good quality, I am quite comfortable with the Pajero line, as I already own a 1999 Fieldmaster, manual and 4x4. It is still a fantastic vehicle even though its turning 9 years old this year.

I hope to get my GLS SE unit soon after reserving 3 weeks ago; I heard the reservation list has now become very long already.

What the government is doing is actually preventing the growth of the automotive industry by limiting the players in a very limited market. When you have a monopoly in any business there is no real competition. no competition means less for the consumer. Our automotive market is a very small one due a lot of factors. If the importation of used vehicles is disallowed on the basis that it is unfair for those who built factories here in our country. I guess all importaion of built up units should be banned. There only a few units that are being manufactured here. Ford imports most of its units in complete units, toyota also imports their fortuners, hilux , LC200, prado, etc. BMW imports all, as the rest of the other brands. if all these members of campi will manufacture all the vehicles that they sell here and no importation of SKD or CKD then by all means let us all do a complete ban on importation. Put a plant here that will rival that of those in thailand and the rest of the world. Since it is one of their premise that they lose money in putting up infastructure. the fact is the market for brand new vehicles is small in our poverty stricken country. If they allow japanese imports in canada and england why can't we do the same here? is it because rhd to lhd conversions are "unsafe" maybe we should stop all the buses in edsa and all those trucks from running. I think that is a more pressing safety issue. A agency in charge of inspecting and giving the certification for rhd to Lhd conversions should be the answer to safety issues. If safety is an issue why doesn't the government make a agency to certify owner type jeeps, jeepneys tricycles? these are long over due
In the end its all just a matter of the power and control.... have you ever heard of a vehicle recall in this country? have your ever heard of a real lemon law being thought of in congress? i guess not.

    Mr. Keiji Takeda
    President
    Isuzu Philippines
    Makati City

    Dear Mr. Takeda:

I am writing to you to express my tremendous disappointment on the action taken as regards my damaged 2008 Isuzu DMax Double Cab. I bought it last August 1, 2008. It was being driven by my brother, Erickson Tan Arienza when it figured in a head-on collision with an Isuzu Elf last September 19, 2008, causing severe frontal damage as well as head injury to my niece, Euricka Arienza. We were very surprised that the AIRBAG didn’t engage, despite the hard and sudden impact! My brother immediately contacted the salesperson who handled the sale, Chico Fuentes, and queried about this. His reply and that of your Head Mechanic, Mr. Leonard, was that there are angles to the impact that will trigger the airbag. This is an extremely flimsy excuse for an airbag that is not functioning! This was also the same justification given to me by your Service Manager, Mr. Euefemio Ybanez. He further said that (1) impact should be frontal; (2) the object collided upon should be still and (3) speed should be at least 25 km/hour. He even drew the angles on a paper. Well, actually he just proved my point as (1) the damage on the car shows it was a frontal collision (2) the elf truck the car collided with suddenly stopped, so, basically, it was standing still; and (3) the car was running at 60 km/hour with no brakes applied before collision. So, why was the airbag not triggered? Mr Ybanez’s reply? – “HE DOESN’T KNOW” but insists its functioning.

One need not be an expert to know that airbags should go off upon hard impact. If you can just see the frontal damage in the photo I am attaching, you will realize how severe really the impact was. How can you dismiss this so simply when it put the passengers’ lives (my brother and his family) in danger? Is this how complacent you treat your customers? Clearly, you are simply evading responsibility and making excuses for my defective unit. You mean, that you cannot guarantee our safety unless we have to angle our car specifically at time of collision to ensure that the airbag will work? What kind of safety device then are you putting on the cars? In fact the reason why I bought the Isuzu Dmax over other brands (Navara was even being launched at that time with better freebies) was your repute of good quality cars. This is very contrary to the Isuzu brand promise. Your feeble try at evading responsibility is simply not reflective of the quality service that your brand is known for.

The act of your company to relegate us to the insurance company and to which they will simply repair the physical damage to the unit, dismisses a very important issue that you should have attended to - the STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY of the car. This cannot be seen by the mere, naked eye of your mechanics/engineers. Mr. Ybanez, in fact, said that they would measure the unit if measurements are still according to standards and if there is damage to the chassis. He even said that only heating of the material could cause damage to the structure. Well, the frontal collision resulted to extreme force exerted on the chassis and caused the material to move, obviously. However, he said that they could check it, but not totally dismantle everything to see all sides if indeed the chassis is according to the original state when it was brand new. So, where is the quality check on this? How can they tell with assurance that those hidden under and cannot be seen by the naked eye will indeed be taken cared of? But then again, you are willing to put us in danger, I’m sure because you want to save money and scrimp at our expense. This just shows your utter disregard of the safety for the customers who buy your cars!

Lastly, the action on this has been very slow. It has been exactly three weeks since the accident. We have been greatly inconvenienced by your inaction. I hope you realize how difficult it is to go by with three weeks without a private transportation. And then after a very long wait, we get a very disheartening and frustrating response.

The way my problem was handled is so divergent of the Isuzu quality I always believed in. Is this the quality of Isuzu products you have been so proudly advertising? How can it fail especially on a one-month old car? It is unfortunate that I have bought a defective unit, a lemon, if I may say. Your inferior customer support made it much worse. It should have been your responsibility that we, your customers, get a fully functional car; one that will give us the assurance that we are protected while driving it.

I will no longer risk my life, and that of any of my family, by being in that same defective Isuzu DMax. With your unacceptable action of repairing just the superficial physical damage alone, I do not have the confidence at all to be in that same car. I wouldn’t wait until something perilous will happen to my family or me. I want to act now. I demand that you either replace it with a new unit (including LTO registration, and Insurance) or fully refund what I paid for that car. And, I paid in cash, fyi.

I will expect that you will take action on my demand within 5 days. Otherwise, I will pursue my claim legally.

I am sure this sure the 2009 Montero Sport is a great SUV that will compete with Fortuner and Alterra. I know this is better than Fortuner. I never liked Fortuner coz people have liked it because it looks good and branded Toyota. I was not really liked because it performs well. No offense to Fortuner owners.

Finally there is something to additionally compete with the Fortuner other than the good Alterra.

Getting a good feedback from Strada, for sure Montero will have a very good feedback as well.

I am planning to buy one after I visited Mitsubishi showroom last Wednesday. Unfortunately I don't have the budget. Too bad!!!

    Go 2009 Montero Sport!!!!

    OFW whose getting carloan... Beware!!!

So I am calling those who purchased any chery car to please share us your experience with your chery.

    Thank you.

The guys from Petron Lakbay Alalay this year really did an awesome job. I should know, they were there during the accident I had with my friends on black saturday, kudos to you guys. Our CRV went blitzkrieg and turn turtled like a crazy pancake on Kilometer 72, Star Tollway, broke my spine in four places, and my friends all had their share of broken bomes and grave injuries. The guys from Petron were the first poeple there and they responded really fast (and they were polite and understanding about the whole thing too), while we wailed away in ridiculous pain. I just hope Petron continues this life-saving program, because come vacation time it's really a jungle out there and it's good to know that there are poeple who have your back. They certainly had mine.

anyone to feed back mitsubishi motors to add immobilizer to the new montero sport, so that I can finally decide one !!! do this immobilizer fitted to the strada gls sport ???

i reserved one unit white montero 2009 sl however i have to wait for long. i asked the manager here in tagbilaran bohol and advised me that i have to wait for a month or so. i have informal arrangements with citimotors makati, they promised me that they can give me the white montero with the wheel upgrade if i will make a deposit for reservation. my concern is that what about the warranty. here in tagbilaran we have one mitsubshi motors showroom business center and after sales. is it wise to withdraw my reservation fee in tagbilaran and transfer it to citimotors makati then arrange with both managers here in tagb and citimotors for the aftersales, im talking about the 100km or 36km whichever comes first. what can you say about this.

I prefer 4x4 with manual transmission like my 2001 Grand Vitara which I use in my Nueva Ecija farm. Any possibility that such version will come out in the Philippines? I guess Montero could really beat Fortuner if MMC would come out with manual transmission version which is anyway available in all Strada variants.

I visited the showroom in Marikina Diamond Motors last mon. Oct. when I saw the Montero sports 2009 GLS. It looks attractive to me both interior and exterior. I was impressed witht he design but when I ask the Sales staff on the enigne displacement, it is 3.2L which is big cmpared to body. I was wandering on the Fuel Consumption it might eat a lot of fuel and besides this is automatic transmission. I read the note of Elmer that MMC & DDE perform FC test and he said it is 15km/L? Where can we find this test result? Can you show me so I can make a decision whether to go ahead on buying this unit?
Are the gas stations is selling EURO 3 or 4?

  91. Bebs on November 17th, 2008 4:29 am

I hope that MMC will consider to have a manual transmission for Montero Sports 2009 for those Customers who prefers the conventional way of driving with a lower dispacement.

    Happy Driving!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  111. Roy Castillo on December 4th, 2008 11:59 am

I don't know if this article is TRUE, i own a Mazda 3 1.6s 2008 model, and the above kilometer per liter fuel consumption is no where near the "REAL WORLD" figures,
i sometimes drop below 8 kilometers per liter due to heavy traffic, my best FC is 9.5 kilometers per liter mix city and hi-way driving.

I am very light footed on gas that's why i was able to achieve such figure. Even if the above test was conducted on hi way, i'm still in doubt with the outcome figure.

I hope Mazda should do a test in city driving environment and stop this DOE run just to entice buyers. I myself was a victim of their wrong publicity fuel data consumption.

Highly recommended, indeed. I am lucky to own Jazz for about 5 years, and there were only minor problems so far: namely, battery had to be replaced, as it would not handle our local colds, and also passenger's window does't move anymore. And that's all. Otherwise, I got bike from countryside in the rear, and being lazy to get front wheel off, Jazz handled whole of it. As usual. Never there was something, that couldn't be transported so far. At once, we had pushed 5 bikes, I recall, one rainy summer day to remember. And not to forget fuel economy: it was under 5L/100km on today's trip. And marvellous dynamic CVT to enjoy... Great car, great engineering, Honda!

im a mazda lover, been an owner of several mazda before like the 323 mazda sedan 16 valve manual trans, the b2500 4x2 & the 4x4 version and recently owned a mazda1997 familia with auto trans. got only one question to make before i intend to buy a mazda again. my car at present mazda 1997 familia ,being used by my wife, since im working here in algeria is giving a small problem and it seems nobody knows in my place whats wrong with it. I cant get rid of the idling problem with my car, you see when the gear is in drive and i press the brake to stop the idling becomes erratic and the engine vibrates and sometimes the idle goes up & down below 500 rpm from 900 rpm. I ask several dealer mechanics & only receive a response that it is always like that on all mazda familia cars, and i do not believe that. im a mechanical engineer myself and knows about car. I really would like to have your comment regarding this matter. by the way ive change several times the spark plug many times already, the fuel filters the ignition wire have check the electronic system and still the problem persist.. can you help me with this. it well be vey will appreciated. thanks andrew giberson. more power to mazda

  121. andrew giberson on December 15th, 2008 5:28 pm

also to mention how come my mazda familia only runs an average of 5 kilometers per liter on city driving and on the highway about only 10 kilometers.my car is a 1997 mazda familia with auto trans. 16 valve and in tip top condition. i have it tuned to several auto dealers in my place like honda, mitsubishi and ford and they dont find anything wrong with my car and still i get erratic idling when i step on the brake and the trans is in drive. can you people help me eradicate this phenomina, because to tell you frankly, im looking forward to buying a new car or pickup but with this problem i have im having my second thought. I dont want to sell this car, for im planning to give it to my daughter when she graduates this coming march from high school. thanks you very much and happy holidays to all. andrew giberson of komatsu algeria.

    Sir,

I'm happy if you can include that on the specs.

    Hi Mike,

I drive the new Montero sports. Re mileage, when I drove to Lipa City odometer registered 10.5 km /liter. City driving in traffic is 8.3 km/li.
Haven't measured run to 100km/sec but I cn say that it is more powerful than my 99 Pajero field master.
Suspension is great, at least better than Fortuner's.
Stereo system superb . Blue tooth hands free cell phone technology, I pod connectivity and most of all a ready cable for flash drive for your stored music.
Overall, a vehicle that's a must buy. Value for money.

The government just wants to direct attention away from FG Mike Arroyo. He's been linked to smugglers before.

And why would they want to smash such fine examples of the modern automobile? Those cars could've been sold to people like you and me.

  162. Analiza Canda on February 7th, 2009 12:18 am

Well about time Toyota dis someting about their high prices. Their vehicles are cheaper and attract big dealer discounts like other brands in other countries eg UK.
THEY HAVE BEEN A BIT SMUG ABOUT THEIR 2008 SUCCESS - but 2009 will bring them back to reality.... now stop ripping off the Filipinos and do some proper discounting please....

    What happened to the PhUV?

In my opinion, a shoestring budget is not a reason to come up with a vehicle that has no appeal to the eye. I am sorry but that is how I see the PhuV. The FX looks much, much better. Although I admire the effort to have an original design, I think using the layout of the FX as a template would have done wonders.

Pinoys, even with a shoestring budget, prefer vehicles that look nice.

Plug-in ready means when the car is parked an the engine is off you can plug the car's battery in to a normal power outlet to charge it. And so you can run on electric only longer so that the gasoline engine will have less use.

the pluses of the montero is its size compared to the subaru forester but the latter is really my choice in terms of aesthetic. mini mini mi-ni-mo.....w/c is the better of the two??.....

I’m actually just waiting for a my 4×2 montero sport this april. I honestly believe this has the greatest bang for the buck though I felt some qualms at first since mitsubishi has lost its gleam a couple of years ago due to some quality problems. But I hope that they have opened their eyes that it’s about time that they focus on quality to bring back the confidence of their customers, otherwise, they would really be finding themselves in an insurmountable pit.

I’v inspected one of the displays in the showroom and the only obtrusive difference between the 4×4 and 4×2 is the leather appointments and wood trims. The water repellent fabric seat doesn’t look cheap, albeit the leather upholstery looks more inviting - just to differentiate the more luxurious 4×4 model i suspect. Is it easy to replicate the leather seats in the 4×4, the color and the quality of leather materials in the aftermarket shops? I mean can anyone suggest of a shop that manufactures quality leather products comparable to original factory made? Would very much appreciate if you could refer one or two.

    Tnx and more power.

my family is also considering between a fortuner and a montero 4x2 gls. but i learned that the engine of that montero 4d56 which is the engine of the jurassic L200 era. it was just added with turbo intercooler and CRDi (which they are not the first to do so). the only problem with fortuner is that, yes, it's all over the place and they say it's a hot-car, and that it's suspension is a little weak. but i'd rather go for the newer engine than buy a jurassic one with just a new "kaha." i want to believe toyota already made improvements about this. since it's badge boasts number one, and mitsubishi is only regaining its top 3 rank just because they offered this montero at an introductory price. and i think it's not euro-3 compliant yet. think about it, 1 million pesos is still 1 million pesos. value for money is key here.

  235. joms on April 12th, 2009 3:24 pm

My two cents worth, you have to admire the audacity of the people in mitsubishi for not changing the engine - 4d56 in their newer model now. Yes, that same engine propelled the old L200 but that only asserts how reliable that engine is. With modifications and improvements, the old reliable engine has gained substantial torque and horsepower - not even the underpower and problematic 2.5 d4d of the fortuner nor the 2.5 duratorq engine of the everest can match.

The classic 4d56 diesel engine is comparable to the classic gasoline counterpart engine of mitsubishi - the 4G63 - which I happen to have in my 1991 Galant GTi. This is a hell of an engine that even the newer technology engines nowadays can’t even rival.

    Peace and happy easter.

I drive my car from Antipolo at Felix Ave. (near Sta Lucia) to the Global City five times a week for the last eleven years now. I use C-5 Road 5 days a week and I pass the C-5--Buting intersection twice a day.

The traffic brought about by the construction of these two elevated U-Turns in said intersection is perhaps slightly better than the old stoplight system. Even on this day, 30 April 2009, when one of the u-turn slot is already operational, traffic contenue to hound the motorist passing this intersection, especialy during rush hours.

Did you know that the biggest volume of vehicular traffic in the country passes through the EDSA-NLEX intersection in Balintawk? Of course, that is easy to see!

But have you noticed that the same intersection does not have any single stoplight nor a single policeman/ traffic enforcer directing traffic (there are policemen somewhere the cloverleaf doing something, but that is intirely a different story)? Of course, that is also easy to see!

Have you notice that traffic in the area is generally good to excelent in most days? Have you ever wondered why government insist on using flyovers and elevated u-turn structures instead of a clover-leaf design intersection? Of course, that is not easy to see! Does comparative "cost" on these options have anything to do with the decision? Your guess is as good as mine.

There you are, it is self explanatory!

This cloverleaf idea is not an original one. I just borrowed it from the late Gen. Percival Adiong, former Traffic Management Group top honcho during Pres. Cory's time. May the good General rest in peace but not his idea on cloverleaf!

4th automatic transmission ay suave and shifting.

it's not a surprise for me they're leaving their operations to a local partner. their overhead expenses might be too high and sales is not that lucrative anymore. what do they expect on a third world countries? buy their underpowered and expensive cars? If i had money, I'd rather import a BMW car from the US(335,328,or X5 4.4) and pay the taxes. It's almost same amount as the cars they sold in the Philippines.

why not construct flyover for opposite directions and u-turns underneath very similar to c-5 corner ortigas ave.(I.P.I area)

  253. edwin lico inlayo on May 6th, 2009 9:57 am

c-5 corner ortigas ave is very ideal as no heavy traffic is encountered nowadays, our road network needs more widening project instead of uturns.

The 18th Trans Sport Show showcased very HOT CARS that has been upgraded with its aftermarket parts and components. Common upgrades that I noticed----which makes me more excited!!-replacing the standard factory issued wheels with aftermarket alloy wheels, usually of a larger diameter, lowering the suspension of the car, replacing the standard exhaust system, modified body kits, changed paint, AUDIO UPGRADES--the best!, and of course the enhanced engine performance!!

I'll definitely wait for the next car show listed!! Chaou.

    hello sir.
i hope this will help... all vehicles are good if they are brand new. but in choosing the right vehicle for you is a matter of need/purpose and not which is good according to consumer survey. not all survey reliable, one may like it and one may not, depending on the situation they got into with the same vehicle model. let us say trouble..first thing to ask yourself is,, do i need a 4x4 in going to office.? 4x4 is use for high alitude or mountain climbing & or rugged terrain in which you can maximize the features.. in 4x4 you pay extra for the parts installed to make it 4x4. both model offers a 4x4 and 4x2 config. which one you really need ? or you may consider also other models..this is what i mean of " need/purpose " of buying a new vehicle.. will it serve your purpose ? can you maintain it in its useful life? is the size right for me ? so forth and so on ..if you notice you see different models,, why ? because factory gives you choices on what you need ? want is another thing.. want to have a good car falls on luxury..so again pls ask yourself.. WANT or NEED ?...both are good and both company will push the product ..so only you can really decide which is right for you.. good luck to you !

  268. gary mercado on May 8th, 2009 5:29 pm

again,, in my own choice.. i go for captiva,, i can be sure it is 100% OBD-2 compliant vehicle... obd-2 is now sweeping across the globe but not all here fully understand it.. you may see articles on web by typing OBD-2.. all will be revealed.. thanks

    Hi Mr. Drey Roque ,
Iam a filipino and shall we say car , motorcycle enthusiast too . I've read your comment as well as your first actual impressions of Benni while doing the drive test . Thanks for the test drive technical informations .
But , your opinions as to actual test seems to contradict with respect to the Benni engine that meets the Euro 3 standards . Do you know that drivers in Europe drove there cars in the Highway always at max. tested speed what ever brand of the car is . You will never get this standardizations Euro 3 if your engine can not attain this speed test and endurance test either in ON and OFF the road .
Have you heard about the Honda Cars having Recalled from year model 2005 to 2007 due to rear wheel axle bearing assembly design , materials and quality problems that caused and endagered life in US. We'll that's Honda the prestigious car by design , R&D , high technology manufacturing set-up etc... but what happened .
Maybe you don't know that Philippines is contributing about 75% in the production of Mercedes Benz engine parts and we are doing it excellently.
Do you know that China engine manufacturers for cars and motorcycles contribute a lot of their engine parts prodcution as OEM to most popular car and motorcycle brand from Japan and Europe and US .
If I were you, it is better to challenge the Manufacturer of Benni to compete in any local car races whether ON and OFF the road race to see the real thing Just like that . The same when proton enter the market and even Hyundai too.
In my opinion , it is better to go and let those China cars enter and see and feel the difference on our very safe road ( hehehe ) competing against Japanese , European and US products so that competitions prices will be justified easily after all .

  307. Rovi Reyes on June 4th, 2009 11:32 pm

The 4D56 engine is jurassic. I had it in my old L200, and now in my L300 dropside pick up. This engine is reliable but in my old L200, since it is not CRDI or turbocharged, it is slow. But the block is sturdy. My 1996 L200 traveled more than 200000 kms before I sold it. But it never had a major ovehaul. The only problem is the timing belt that you have to change regularly, or else you get stuck up somewhere when it breaks.
Regarding the 4x2 montero, I dreamed of buying one. But I wish they wiill release a 4x2 version of the 3.2 liter engine for more power. If not, then the 4D56 will do becuase of its reliability. Besides, you can buy parts for 4D56 anywhere. But the 3.2 liter, I do not know.

What is Toyota up to know launching a previous gen PRIUS priced at par with an entry level luxury segment price? I could swallow up the irony of getting a Luxury car like a Merc or a BMW diesel reeling towards efficiency. But a Toyota for 2 million +? forget about getting 50mpg and get a decent subcompact and a million peso worth of gas to spend!

  322. hybrid user on June 14th, 2009 11:24 pm

Hybrid cars are already running in the country and can easily beat the mpg of Toyota Prius. Using water as alternative fuel and is sent through a GEET reactor instead of electricity running a motor. 100mpg and beyond is an easy task for these GEET cars and it doesn't cost millions. Search the internet for GEET and install it. 67mpg is very common in mixed City and provicial roads traffic. Save fuel, minimized pollution and use water instead of poor electric motors with expensive batteries.

For lubricants, make use of Palm oil or our very own coconut oil, these oils are far better than your current engine oil. Palm oil or coconut oil does not need regular oil topping and does not burn in the combustion chamber unlike mineral based oil. This simple solutions will help your engine live longer and minimized pollution.

Who needs a million pesos hybrid when you can make your own with off the shelf parts from the plumbing store and local hardware for parts and implement GEET on your gasoline and diesel engines?

  323. garbo on June 15th, 2009 4:55 pm

Too expensive for a compact car. You can buy 3 honda jazz' with that kind of money.

  324. FPJ on June 15th, 2009 11:26 pm

I have made up my mind after shopping around. Definitely Mits. Montero will be the best buy for me. Is it practical to buy it from Manila and travel it by land to Davao? Is there really a substantial price difference since I will not be paying for the freight and handling as the dealers in Davao are collecting from the customers?
    Would appreciate your response.

I thought the Phil govt were giving tax exemptions to products that are green? Without the 30% tarrif and the 12%VAT that would bring the cost down to compete with mid size sedans...probably around 1.5million. If this happens Ill get 1!! I recently rode one and the wonderful thing about it is the engine stops when you stop. It tells you immediately if you are using battery or the engine(via a diagram) so you can adjust accordingly. and it makes no sound when on electric mode. Kudos to Toyota for being the pioneer again!!

  330. leo on June 18th, 2009 2:32 pm

too expensive.. the goverment should exempt or reduce the tax of the prius... 30-percent tariff plus 12-percent value-added tax..

I agree with ARY, let it enter and prove itself worthy. I know this coz I used to sell KIA during its early days and we had the same feedback back then.

  332. David Do on June 19th, 2009 10:35 am

At first, The intake and exhaust valve seat has no lubricating system in all the internal engine even gasoline engine. specially it have color white or little bit blue exhaust gas if lubricated intake valve. Because the oil is going to chamber and then make imperfect combustion. So all of internal engines intake valve has oil seal in the valve stem for not infiltrate engine oil

Add more the LPG Bi-Fuel conversion is almost same as gasoline intake system, only different is install the LPG fuel supply parts. It has four kind of different type, first Caburator type is install the Mixer adapter(caburator venturi) betwin throttle valve to air filter. second Feed-Back Mixer system is almost same as caburator system's Mixer adapter but it has own engine control unit(ECU) same as EFI(Electronic Fuel Injection) it is control the fuel quantity of supply. Third SGI(Sequential Gas Injection) is vapor state LPG inject same as gasoline injection. Last is LPi(Liquified Petrolum gas Injection) is inject liquid state LPG same as gasoline fuel state.
Each system is can apply to different engine and also has advantage and disadvantage.

Please inquire to my email(realizeroom@eroomgng.com) if you need more information.

Elmer, if you cant buy the montero sport in Manila, get it where I did. I talk to about 20 mitsubishi agencies in Mla, looking for a red montero sport 4x2, 2.5li diesel engine and the best guarantee i can get is that if I pay the reservation, they can supply me the red montero in a week but no promise. What a heck, supply in a week but no promises! Try the provincial agencies like La Union or others. I bought mine in 3 days via telephone thru the intersession of my bank manager. They can deliver the car to your address as well if you so desire. Like they did to a customer from the province of Abra. The agency is a mitsubishi authorized dealer. Motorplaza, Inc., Parammata Bldg, Sitio 5 Brgy Biday, San Fernando La Union. Contact Astrobel T. Espiritu - 09209725899 or 09232121198. Gud luck and hav a happy hunting.

I appreciate that Toyota has introduced the Prius in RP. Unfortunately, the government is not helping in making this hybrid a serious consideration for those thinking of getting a value for your money car. They are always trying to push for alternative sources of energy and yet the price is too expensive. For that price you get 2 good gas/diesel cars/SUV/AUV. You may even stretch it to 3 good ones.

What the government says and what they do regarding alternative sources of energy are way way different.

As for Toyota, I do hope they don't "overprice" this and be opportunistic, since based on the price of the Prius abroad. This local price is way over...

I agree with ARY that this car should participate in this car racing/competition and test its endurance and capacity to withstand what other cars had gone thru. This way they would be able to show to the people that this car from CHINA really is worth our penny.
We know how China products fare in the world of production. They are more on quantity output and quality is nowhere to be found.

    Meaning sub-standard quality.

Anyway, everybody deserves a chance to prove his worth.

    Go CHANA!
    GOOD LUCK.

  362. Rene on July 10th, 2009 12:38 pm

Wow, this is a wow thing.

I am an avid fan of Honda things. Whatever that means!

This should be done by everybody else in this industry to redeem itself for not taking care of our nature and thinking only of what they could get from selling their stuffs.

I have seen Honda's drive for a better tomorrow; they've been one of the proponents in producing nature friendly cars and accesories and I know that they won't stop in finding ways to create and innovate technology that would realize this dream!

    GOOD LUCK!

  363. Rene on July 10th, 2009 12:44 pm

Please make this car as affordable as affordable.

This would be a way to lessen the not-so-good greenhouse gases and pollutants that destroy our nature.

For the TONGGRESSMAN, please help us realize our dreams of having clean air and ultimately habitable place to live in - this also is my Earth.

A lot of pinoy can't afford that pricey 2-door car. And, it is impractical to have one when you could have 4, for convenience.

    No need to think!

Am a proud owner of the 2009 montero sport 4x2, 2.5 liter turbo intercooled diesel. Took me three weeks going around testing most of the suv in this P1.2-1.5m price range and and lately, found the montero 4x2 smooth ride, high ground clearance, 7 seater cap and variable luggage space arrangement, suited my needs pretty well. Moving from the eastern mountainous province of Abra through 10km of rough road, one river crossing and 440km of paved road to Manila and the same km back, twice a month have only confirm my choice is right. I drive at a steady 140-150km/hr at the sctex & nlex while 80 - 120 outside the expressway and 30-60 at the rough unpaved road and consumed 80 liters back & forth (11.25liters/km). So far, driving comfort, noise level, smooth shifting, firm dynamic ride at the speedway contributed greatly to a faster travel, more relax driving and less fatigue and stress on arrival. My early preference is the furtuner because Im captivated by its looks and strongly recommended by my compadre in toyota. I've driven the suv to & pro, halfwaw at the same route and condition, and i would still go for the 2009 montero. Last week, via the Abra-Kalinga road, 65km of unpaved rough & gutted road, under heavy rain, I put my new Montero Sport 4x2 into paces, and traversed the worst road I ever travelled, back and forth without a hitch. Sorry guys, but at this point in time, i firmly believe the montero sport is still the best choice for myself and will not hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for an suv at this price range. U wont regret it....

Lets not forget Toyota Philippines...even if you remove the taxes we will still end up around P1.7M for the unit....thats a P700,000 difference from retail of other countries. Everyone should do their part to make this work. I am very interested to buy the Montero 4x4 GLS SE AT. The problem is ,there is, no available unit and one has to make a reservation. What is funny is that the salewoman who attended to me says I have to get bank financing ,even if I said I 'll pay in cash and am willing to put a down payment of whatever amount she wants; that those who go for bank financing will be given priority than one who buys in cash. She further said that there is a long list of customers waiting for their units. Why is it that so? Well, the Santa Fe is another choice.

    I'll try other dealers, anyway...

when i inquired at honda pasig, they said that the honda civic 1.8S carbon bronze is available. our company already posted a PO for the car since July. every time i follow up with their agent he would always say that the car would be delivered within the week. its already the end of august and recently they again promised to deliver by september. i do hope liars go to hell.

Is this New Montero Sport 2.5 GLS can be trade in to a 2007 Chevrolet Optra 1.6 LS Wagon, of course plus additional price? I really wanted to own an SUV since my present car is not applicable in a province due to very rough road situation in our place. Kindly advise in my e-mail and more or less, what will be the price minus amount of my car after trade in. My car is only 6000 km in speedometer since I only use this when I am in the Philippines, an OFW. Waiting for your advise. Thanks

Could anyone differentiate CRV from Montero in terms of performance. How long will it take to deliver/pick-up the SUVs(CRV or Montero) from the day of parchased ? Please advise.Kind regards, Tonski

Wow! A very nice Bill by Sen. Zubiri. If this Bill takes effect, this just means one thing: price decrease on hybrid vehicles. Because of this, more people will be able to buy a hybrid car thus help decrease damage to the environment brought about by burning fossil fuels.

Incentives should be targeted to hybrid and alternative fuel public transport vehicles like buses, micro-buses, taxis and trucks. Other wise, this will be just another subsidy to more affluent people who can afford to buy a car in the first place.

I bought my first Montero GLS SE Pyrenese Black back in November 2008 in cash through the help of a friend from Mitsubishi Taytay. In two weeks of ordering, my Montero was released and paid in cash. Did some upgrade as well, mounted 22" chrome wheels/tires. Sad to say I had to sell it after using the vehicle for 3 mos as I had to go back overseas. I love this SUV! This was the best SUV I ever had, albeit 3.2, it was so tipid in fuel. I drove to Isabela, Baguio and vice versa. Malakas ang hatak, very responsive, very fuel effecient talaga and lots of space. When I go back to the Philippines for a long break, I will definitely buy another one. I will get the red one this time and again mount my used chrome wheels.

I do believe that Filipinos need to drasticallly take up safe driving courses, especially our public transport drivers--they have great disregard for the passengers' safety and treat the roads as if they were karerahans. It is very uncivilized, annoying and irritating, and reflects on the boorish attitudes of Filipinos! Why can't anybody have the guts to give them the proper training on the aspects of road safety? Perhaps we can follow the standards set by the Kowloon Motor Bus of Hong Kong, where their drivers are given the proper training and stringent tests before they can get behind the wheel of the big buses.

Driving is not only a right, but let it also be a responsibility that people must take seriously. . . when will we ever learn?

The article above mentioned that the IPC calamity assistance program covers only those brought to Isuzu dealers from October 9 to 31, 2009. My Crosswind XTO was damaged by typhoon Ondoy and had it brought to Isuzu (Gencars) Makati on the day following Ondoy, I think that was September 27, 2009. Does it mean that I am not covered by the program?

To date my said Crosswind is still with Isuzu Gencars Makati since there was no TCM available at Isuzu. They tried to install a TCM before but it did not work because according to them the TCM was for Sportivo and not for XTO. Aren't they supposed to be the same? Would someone know where I can buy the TCM for my Crosswind XTO?

    Thanks.

I like the benni too., The features are superior compared to other sub compact cars in the market, and the price can be affordable. The MT cost P 389K, due to chana's big promo discounts.

With regards to its aircon system, I think the benni seems cool enough. Maybe, Mr.Roque did the test drive during noon time, and without a good tint, the car requires ample time to cools its interior. The same thing apply with all cars.

As soon as my car loan application was approved, I think I will be getting a benni.

toyota casa in makati bel-air philippines has a very poor customer service. everytime i had my regular check-up, problem always came up. Engineers need more training on how to reply to customers in terms of standards and details. One engineer would recommend this and the other would recommend that...when asked about standard parameters, they cannot explain well...ask them about checklist, they cannot provide...very dissapointing...

with this simple customer care service, how would you expect toyota philippines qualify and care enough to do recalls?

guys, do not give too high regards for toyota cars sold in the philippines. for all you know compared to other areas wherein toyotas are sold,we are just a drop in a bucket that is the reason why they did not do any recall in the philippines. There are issues also in the philippines why not? but they dont give a damn to the clients here because we are insignificant as compared to other markets!. The bottom line is that american market they should protect because it is their bread and butter plain and simple.!!!

I got my Montero last Sept. and was at first satisfied of the comfort but last Jan ( 4 months after purchased) I brought the Montero in Citimotors service due to malfunction of the air-conditioning unit and told that they have to change the vaporizer, after three days I was told that the headlight assembly got burned, after two weeks of repair they finally told me that the unit is all in good condition, but to my surprised, while am driving home the Montero the air-conditioning unit started to leak inside...so what can I do but to bring back the Montero to the service shop.....
    Am really very very disappointed.........

Nereset daw software, etc. Pero meron pa rin.

Hello Toyota wake-up you are No.1 but no program for OFW unlike Honda, Mitsubishi & Isuzu. Toyota wants to harvest the fruit without planting anything to OFW. Truely if they value OFW they should have a program if nothing they don't have the right to value OFW whoever among the members of CAMPI.

Hi can someone please help me? I recently bought a 2009 montero sport 4x4 manual. It's a very good ride, nice interiors, superior suspension, efficient fuel consumption and good enough power. However, i noticed ( and it's not just me, this includes my brother, father and wife ) that if I was running at high speeds and on the fifth gear then suddenly had to slow down to take a turn and would shift to a lower gear, the engine would stop. I noticed that this happens only when i step on the clutch and shifts gears. But, say for example, I ran the vehicle at very slow speeds even for the third or fourth gear, di sya namamatay, sinubukan ko lang to. pero kapag mabilis ka at biglang preno sabay apak ng clutch para lipat ng gear tsaka sya namamatay. tinanong ko na 'to sa dealer kaso sabi nila, baka mali lang yung timing ko sa clutch. eh tagal tagal ko ng nag da drive tsaka di lang saking nangyayari to. Please help....

i hope you can deliver our orders really really fast here in tagbilaran`coz we need to have it as soon as possible...i just spoke with one of the Mitsubishi staff and i was told that the maximum wait is like 2 months....boy, that's a long wait. going through the comments here, i've learned that there are two of us here in tagbilaran waiting for the white montero...the staff at mitsubishi told me that there are a total of 10 people branchwide ordering the white montero. branchwide includes tacloban, dumaguete and etc....grrrrrrrrrr! hope you can expidite the delivery of our orders `coz the long wait is aggravating my insomnia...i can't sleep anymore `coz i am just soooooooooo excited. i could kiss the manager here in tagbilaran if he can have it delivered to us when i wake up tomorrow morning...=)

    lDear Manufacturer,

I have purchased a brand new JMC 4WD single cab from UNITED MOTORS LANKA PLC bearing engine NO.76045451 Chassis NO.LETECAD167HP12948 in January 2010, since the very first day there have been many problems / defects with the vehicle. Many written complaints have been made to yourocal agents & they have done nothing to rectify same up to date. They confirm that the failure of the vehicle is due to a manufacturing defect. We would also like to bring to your notice that this vehicle was sold with a disconnected millage cable & 472km on the meter. We kindly request you to take all necessary steps to rectify this situation as we are we are disappointed with the vehicle & the lack of service and responsibility of your local agent.

Please contact us for further details.
    Thanking you

First of, it is not "FerrarY" ...and tama ay FERRARI. I believe comment should be confined to Montero Sport and related vehicles so that readers can benefit from it.

I am planning to get my Montero Sport 4x2 this week. Kung ano na lang ang available sa showroom, other than red, ay OK na.

This is disappointing. I'd really hoped that Porsche would see that this was a great opportunity to have a bit of fun. Instead they come off as a bit superior in that "retreat" letter. I really hope Mini does indeed have a plan B for this. I think people wanted this to happen. Quite a few friends and co-workers sent this story to me - and a lot of them aren't even car fans.

Someone needs to remind Porsche that aside from representing excellence in engineering, cars should be fun. That "burn notice" Porsche sent Mini not fun. Boo Porsche.

great. pinoy made. nice design. will reduce air pollution in manila. hope also that GMA will improve rice production., stop importing rice from ASEAN countries. We have huge potential to be a rice exporter. should stop selling and turning ricefields into commerial plants. Third. is preventing water pollution all over the nation. gov't. should prevent squatting near any water resources. hope the use of electric jeepney would be a start.

Before my preferred car was Toyota where I work before. Due to thier lousy support in financing and technical problem in diesel engines (problem in fuel system crdi supply pump even i know to do it). Finally I take Mit adventure diesel. Guaranted technical problem was improved (no headache) and I was supported in financing terms (good promo & discount most of all good customer relations). If anyone wants vehicle without worrying technical problem I recommend MIT ADVENTURE (major rival of toyota revo & isuzu hilander before).

Good day, I wish to follow up regarding my unit (Montero Sport Gls) whis is under repair in Mitsubishi Avescor Iloilo. The unit was registered to my wife actually Jo-Ann B. Gargalicana...We got our unit last October 2009 and unfortunately had an accident last april 28th..the next day we brought our unit back for repair...we have been waiting untill now for the remaining spare parts (LH Fender ) as most of the part have arrived except this...guess its almost 2 months now waiting for all the spare and we did all the copmlains in Iloilo but as they said its the main branch in manila who's delaying the delivery of the parts...even gave us the email..of jignacio whom we dont know who is it...we are even told that the parts are available in their system but we dont know why the Amnila branch is not responding with our complains...it took me two years to decide which unit suits for me and the best as our first car but i guess it turns out to be a failure...i would appreciate if you can send me the right person to contact for this matter...

As the loyal customer, I really hope your company can manage this matter well as this matter may affect your company’s image and the the trust of the customers to your company. I look forward to your prompt attention. Your prompt attention to this matter will be much appreciated. Thanks.
