Toyota Holds 5th Media Road Trek

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. (TMP) held its fifth Media Roadtrek last May 21-23, 2009 throughout western Negros Island. Through visiting various locations around the country and getting closer nature’s wonders, the annual event aims to promote environmental awareness, local tourism, and sustainable mobility. Since its first run in 2005, the Roadtrek has seen various regions across the country including Panay Island, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Dumaguete, Rizal, and Palawan.

The Toyota Roadtrek’s fifth run this year included 24 media participants who experienced a comprehensive test drive of the locally-produced and Completely Knocked Down (CKD) Innova and Vios. Read more

Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Registers Impressive 32% Growth in 1Q 2009

While total Philippine automotive industry sales for the first quarter registered 28,564 units which is slightly down by 1.2% from the same period last year, Mitsubishi Motors Philippines (MMPC) recorded an impressive 32% growth.   MMPC sold a total of 4,860 vehicles for the first quarter, resulting to a 17% market share and No.2 position in the industry.

MMPC also registered growth in all segments for the first quarter.  Lancer sales totaled to 365 units for a 44.8% growth in the passenger car segment.

In the light commercial vehicle segment, total growth registered was 29.3% as MMPC sold a total of 4,290 units.   MMPC credits this to the strong sales of its new Montero Sport, Adventure, Strada pick ups and L300 models. Read more

Isuzu Philippines Unveils New 2009 D-MAX Variants

There has never been a better time to buy a pickup than now. That’s because Isuzu Philippines Corp., assembler of world-class and award-winning diesel-powered vehicles, has just introduced two new variants of the D-MAX pickup for 2009. The pair of the new LS and the Boondock II now boast features previously only found on higher-end trims. The new features make the tough D-MAX stunning as well.

CAMPI: Philippine Auto Sales ‘Better Than Other Markets’

Vehicle sales dropped by a slight 3.3 percent to 38,522 units during the first four months of this year, a joint report from the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI) and the Truck Manufacturers Association (TMA) showed yesterday.

“So far the local industry is holding up better than other markets,” CAMPI president Elizabeth H. Lee said. She noted that the low single digit decline in sales is better than other developed economies.

“Auto sales continue to be supported by the overall financing environment. Buyers still have access to financing and continue to buy although buyers are becoming more discerning with greater ‘price shopping’, feature comparison, and value for money as key considerations for purchase amid the wide variety of vehicles being offered in the market,” Lee said.
